This is a story about a young woman who has experienced a relatively short marriage, a difficult childhood, and the strength to overcome the trauma of it all. The key seems to be in realizing that when you give help to someone in need, your soul will be healed. This story is a lesson that we can all learn. I would love to read it. Nice review.

Cecilia, thank you for this review. Having read the sample, your evaluation of the writer's skill and the pace and engagement of the storyline seem spot on. I see you note it as a good read for lovers of Christian fiction, which surprised me as what I read both in the sample and from your review strikes me more as human or realistic rather than religious. I guess I just have to read it to understand that recommendation. Thanks again!

I love stories with strong female protagonists and am proud of Lily's 'new feistiness' after having been abused for seven long years. However, I tend to veer away from books with religious elements, so I'll most likely pass on this one. I wish some of the supernatural elements promised in the blurb had shown up in the sample. That would have been more engaging for me. Thanks for the excellent review!

I feel real sad for Lily and what she had to go through, can't even imagine her sufferings. She is a strong and forgiving woman. Thanks for the detailed review.

Romance and well-developed characters? I'm sold on this one. It sounds like a lovely book about overcoming obstacles and starting over. I hope Lily can find someone who treats her like a prize. Thanks for the informative review.

Thinking about the time/era in which this book is set (1940) and seeing things like arranged marriage, abuse and things like this makes me wonder about what Women went through in that era. Good job on this review.

Betrayal, abandonment, abuse, grief, and loss would burden anyone with an incredibly challenging existence. It sounds like this young widow’s tale leaves quite an impact on readers. Thank you for your review!

Alone and trying to survive, Lily sounds like a strong character and I’d love to read her story. Overcoming the hardships life throw at her and never giving up. A historical fiction book with mystery and a great plot.
