Re: Billionaire Romances

The only great billionaire romance book that I've read and loved was Theodora Taylor's "Her Russian Billionaire". It had me hooked from beginning to end. I've read a couple other books with that theme and found them utterly boring. But, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! :)

I downloaded the kindle bundle set as well and was extremely disappointed. They all have the story line and a lot of the same character attributes. I would love to see a new 50 shades/crossfire competitor that can bring in some new character attributes and a new story line that would still keep my attention and make me not want to quit reading it.

The theme is getting a little over done. After a grizzly thriller I always need a cheesy/smutty/HEA, it would be nice if they were a little bit more original. The h doesn't ALWAYS need to be poor and struggling.

It seems like you have to sift through quite a few bad novels to get to the good ones. There definitely are a few good billionaire romance novels but the market is a bit flooded with the success of the fifty shades of grey series.

I love billionaire romance but you all right it is being overrun and they are all sounding the same.

I do agree that the billionaire theme is being over used, but there still is a certain draw about a powerful alpha male.

I've read a few since 50 Shades of Grey came out. I have to be in a certain mood to read them. They aren't typically something I go looking for, but I do enjoy the occasional one.

I enjoy them but I have to pace myself with them. I will read a couple and then read a different type of book. I do agree that there are way too many out there and not a lot of them are very original.

After reading the 50 Shades books I don't think I can stomache another book along those lines. The ones I've picked up have a similar story line with an crazy possessive alfa male and timid female. I do like a little paranormal romance now. :)

Since posting here earlier, I have started reading the In Death series by J.D. Robb, at some users recommendations. I will give them a pass from my prior condemnation of the entire class of billionaire romances. I liked that they were about more than romance, that the romance between them was a subplot to Eve being a strong, independent woman who can get by just fine on her own, which doesn't seem to be common in the genre. I was disappointed that everything was so rushed though. There are so many books, that I would have like to see the relationship have developed gradually over time, instead of meeting, falling in love, and getting married in the first two books. I will keep reading though.

I too get a bit tired with the billionaire romances, because it lacks romance often times and other times it's so completely unrealistic. However, I read one book called On Dublin Street by Samantha Young, which is more of a rich boy romance than a Billionaire per say, but the idea was the same. It was an amazing book however. I would give it a 4.5/5 if not a 5/5. It was wonderfully written, in first person none the less which I normally don't prefer, had a great story line, and wasn't completely about the sex. It wasn't complete erotica, but a simple romance. It was about the relationship, personal issues and love, not just sex. The main character goes through serious issues within herself and it causes problems in her relationship with this rich boy. Another reason I love this book is because it's not your classic Billionaire book. His money and her money aren't the reason's for their relationship, it actually has very little to do with their relationship itself. I highly recommend this book/series.

There was one book about a billionaire's son, I do not remember the title, where he sent his son to a different town with little money and he could not tell anyone who he was. The son had to survive on his own for a year I think before he would be eligible to be in the will. It was a good read.

I have come across a ton of the "billionaire romance" books, and I find that they are all a little worn out plot-wise. It seems to me that after Fifty Shades of Grey, the books became more popular.

I read that book! I thought it was a good read, and the woman wasn't ready to drop everything for a man, which made it that much more realistic.

Are you talking about the series by Melody Anne? If so, I absolutely LOVED the fathers. Sure, it was the same story over and over in some way but I found them to be really light reads and pretty funny at times.

It sounds like the McGregor Series by Nora Roberts. That one is about a rich elderly Scottish patriarch who basically manipulates his children and grandchildren into marrying people he picked out for him. It's pretty funny, too. I'll have to look into this Melody Anne's books.
