Judy Burr wrote: 10 Feb 2025, 17:13 Thank you for your review. I read the sample. I wished Ann was part of the book from the first, as the story was a bit slow. It was sad that Richard entered the clergy only because of his father's wishes. He is a gentle person with a nice personality. Like Ann said, and I agree that he could do better.
I completely agree that the story started off a bit slow, and having Ann introduced earlier could have added more engagement.

The reviewer has not only summarized the key events and themes of the book concisely but has also shared their personal feelings and experiences, making the review even more impactful. Both the positive and negative aspects have been highlighted fairly,
helping readers decide whether this book is suitable for them or not.
The criticisms regarding the complexity of language and slow pace are also presented logically, making the review appear objective and credible.
Overall, this is an excellent review that serves as a valuable guide for book lovers.
The slow pacing and complex language did make the book a bit challenging, but it still had valuable insights for those interested in Christian history.

T Lynn Caruso wrote: 10 Feb 2025, 16:17 The sample was a little difficult to read as I do not have a strong religious background so the authors reference to certain things, I had a difficult time following. I also thought it was a love story, but according to the review it wasn't. I will not be downloading a copy but someone with a strong religious background might enjoy it. Thank you for the review.
I also expected more of a love story based on the title.

Richard Hughes describes how the filiation of Celtic saints charms his path into the sacred ministry in A Curate in Love. His judgment of conviction is put to the test when he breaks an unattackable romantic interest group in Ann, a perceptive mathematician and atheist. An intriguing write-up.

The reviewer analyzing of the book and accurately identifying the appropriate audience for the book is great and appreciated.
The title of the book suggests something other than its content. Stories that revolve around religion don't suit me. So I'll skip this one. Congrats on BOTD

Reading such a book that can improve your knowledge of the Christian history is quite integral to your Christians life, and also you get to learn lots of new words.

'A Curate in Love "by Richard Hughes, is a book most Christian readers would love to read. It talks more about religious doings and lifestyle. But I feel a little of the love part should have been introduced making it more captivating and interesting. Nevertheless I still like the book for the fact that it pertains to Christianity and I'm a Christian.

Great review! I also thought that this book was a love story. From your review concerning the difficult understanding of some of the passages, I think that I will pass on this one. I like to read books that are pleasant and easy to read.

Today's BOTD is a historical biography that details the challenges and obstacles Richard faced both in and out of the clergy. This is definitely not the book for me, but if you're interested in religious history, you may want to check this out some more. Thanks for your helpful review! :-)

A Curate in Love is about Richard as an assistant curate. It is a memoir that I look forward to read. I highly recommend it.
Congratulations on BOTD.

Thank you for your detailed review! I find it interesting that the book starts with Richard unknowingly signing an important document—this seems to set the tone for his journey of unexpected challenges. Your point about the slow pacing and complex vocabulary makes me wonder if the book might feel more academic than personal at times. I was also surprised to learn that the title is somewhat misleading, as I would have expected a stronger focus on romance. Despite these drawbacks, it’s good to hear that the book provides valuable insights into religious history. The mention of a shocking discovery about King Solomon has definitely piqued my curiosity! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thank you for your honest review. I'm not much into memoirs or religious books. Although it sounds like an educational and engaging read, you mentioned more things that make me reconsider. I'm sure the book will find its readers.

Despite of the slow reading pace mentioned, the author's life challenges and church history makes a good read. Thanks for the review.

'Official Review: A Curate in Love' by Richard Hughes gives an enriching idea of the premise of the memoir. It explores the issues the book raises. The book recounts the author's life as the assistant curate of Mold. Author Richard Hughes overcomes hurdles in his relationships and curacy experiences. Readers will find his book educational and focused on religious history. Learning that the author's work inspires us to dig deep into religious topics was great!
