This isn't a fast-paced, thrilling story, so if you like a really action-packed novel, this isn't it. But it is a page-turner in its own right, as it is so engaging that you find yourself needing to see how Miriam's story ends up. If you want a story that completely pulls you in and makes you feel all the feels, Pressing Flowers will do just that.

I gave Pressing Flowers 4 out of 4 stars. This is Blanchard's debut novel, and she exploded out of the gate with a winner. I really enjoy a character-driven story that makes you feel completely invested in the protagonist. I look forward to seeing what else Blanchard will do, and her first book really deserves to be read. Just make sure to have the tissues nearby when you do.

I absolutely love personal narratives and character-driven novels. When the protagonist is well-developed I can get completely invested in these stories. I can't possibly imagine how shattering losing my husband would be! Can't wait to read this book. Great review, thanks!

Sounds like a very heart and gut wrenching story. Not only are you able to take in the sadness of the character then you have to pull yourself out to keep her daughter. Make me think really hard and question would I Be able to make it through a situation like that. I will definitely be reading this book.

This books is a tear jerker for sure. For anyone who has ever loved and lost, just loved, or just lost, this book has a way of touching those parts of you. For me, it felt like I was in the room with Miriam, struggling with the grief that wrapped around both of us.
It is rare for a novel to get me so in my feelings, and therefore this one is special to me. Thanks to the author for portraying such raw and vivid emotions about something we will all have to experience at some time or another, in some way or another.

It is never easy to move on from the loss of a loved one. Especially if it s someone you consider a pillar in your life. Miriam's story is encouraging and inspiring. It is also relatable and that makes Blanchard a winner for me. She writes the raw emotion that you can feel it. You feel Miriam's courage and you become part of her story. Great job.
