One of the events of this book takes place in the nineteenth century, when slavery was widespread, especially black slaves.
Lily is a young girl who was taken from her mother and sold at a black slave auction, purchased by Jesse Adams' family .
It can be said that the fourteen years she spent with her owner or master were very difficult and sometimes full of tragedies.
But suddenly her lifestyle will change, with the help of a number of tense figures in her life, from the moment she escapes.
At a time when African slaves were prohibited from writing and reading, Lily had the ability
To play the piano, which is prohibited and against the law.
The story takes you to the story of the lives of slaves in the mid-nineteenth century in the South, a wonderful and amazing story.
And inspiring at the same time, it draws you to talk about an important part of American history that I can consider a painful and dark history.
It is extremely racist, gentlemen, the cruelty of slavery in an important era in American history, full of humor, anger, and crying.

I sampled the book before and I'm kind of interested to see how things turn out for Lily. I don't think the issue mentioned by the reviewer (the changing accents) would bother me too much. I don't read many historical fiction, but occasionally I would come across books that would completely take me over. I hope today's book would fall into that category.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughtful and detailed review of "The Prodigy Slave: Book One: Journey to Winter Garden." I truly appreciate your kind words and am thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the emotional journey with Lily. I also appreciate your candid feedback regarding the switching of accents among characters, and I will certainly take that into consideration for future works.

This seems like an emotional rollercoaster and that is what piques my interest. Complex characters with well-defined arcs and realistic attitudes are my favorite. I really hope the cliffhanger ending won't be a problem given the promises the book shows. Congrats on BOTD!
The review is so well-written that I was engrossed from the very 1st sentence. It perfectly summarized the book, pointing out both positive and negative aspects. Thank you for sharing this beautiful review.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting romance novel about Lily, a young woman who was sold into slavery, but found a propensity for playing the piano. Her close friend who happens to be her "master's" son threatens her after he learns of her piano skills. Will these two fall in love or will their status affect their romance. While I am not a fan of romance novels, there are likely readers who will want to give this book a second look. Well done.

Congratulations to the author for BOTD. We always love slave-based books because they teach us of our mistakes in the past so that we don't repeat them again. This was a brave book to write. I hope to get more books from the author and I also hope Lily lots of love.

Lily's being taken away from her mother as child is really touching, but she is so ambitious that she seeks to find her mother.
The discovery of her propensity for the piano opens a new chapter of comfort and joy in her life in an otherwise scary and cruel surrounding.

The prodigy slave by London Skye is an intriguing story about Lily whom was cruelly snatched from her mother's arms at age nine and betrayed by being sold as a slave by her father. It is also a rather beautiful story of how God has placed in every human a special gift/talent irrespective of race, colour, tribe, nationality. She still became a prodigy pianist.
Furthermore, it's amazing how James Adams and Lily find love which transcends the times in which they found themselves.
Finally, the author did an incredible job of helping the reader see that hard work and tenacity pays in the long run. All a person has to do is persevere.

The review is too dettailed and I personally prefer a shorter review that show little about the plot in order to make me curious to read the book. But I have to admit that is a very good review as there are a lot of readers that want to know more about the book they'll read.

I'm a huge fan of historical romance, so this seems right up my street. There was an instant connection with Lily. I did think it odd when the dialogue changed from heavily accented, which strongly signified Lily was a slave, to eloquent speech at times.

Lily's story is heartbreaking at first. Being sold as a slave by your own father is downright gutting. Lily's star shines as a prodigy pianist. When she finds a friend in her master's son, it feels hopeful and optimistic.
This is a wonderful, historical adventure well worth the read.
Congratulations on BOTD!

"The Prodigy Slave, Book One: Journey to Winter Garden" by Londyn Skye is about a young slave Lily who becomes friends with her master's son James. On the pages of the book, Lily will discover strong feelings of love, passion, but also art and freedom.

It's clear from your review that the character development in "The Prodigy Slave" is well done, with Lily's journey of discovery being central to the book. The way you've described how she finds love, passion, and freedom through music and friendship is incredibly engaging. I'm also impressed by how you've managed to avoid giving away too many spoilers, which is a key skill in writing reviews!
