Both Pressing Flowers and its review are beautifully written. After reading only a few pages of Katie Blanchard’s novel, it was clear tissues would be needed. The author has an amazing ability to capture the emotions and thoughts of the broken, heartbroken, widowed mother and her seemingly resilient young daughter. This is a book that will be impossible to put down.

"Pressing Flowers" by Katie Blanchard is about a woman who lost her zest for life when her husband died in a car accident. Her depression affected her little girl, so her mom decided to step in to help her daughter overcome her grief. Congratulations on BOTD!!!

This sounds like an emotional story. Miriams story is not uncommon and it can happen to anyone. I'm looking forward to reading this.

Thank you for the great review. While your review makes the story sound compelling, I am honestly not sure if I want to read this book. I have gone through a lot of loss in my life including the death of a daughter and my husband - and way too many family members and friends - so I tend to avoid reading about loss unless it has been written by someone who has experienced it firsthand because, unfortunately, those who haven't experienced it just can't truly understand, no matter how well-intentioned. You never "get over it" - and I hated it when people told me to "move on". It doesn't happen. You do learn a new normal, but there is always an emptiness, a missing piece of you that can never be replaced. So, I'm sure this would be a great story for some - just not for me. Again, thank you for the great review!!

This is an impressive story of loss, grief, family, and endurance. A wife has her whole life shattered when she looses her husband. Her daughter is what keeps her connected to her previous life.

Amazing that this is the author's first novel, sounds like they've started out strong! I'm not always in the mood for something so hard-hitting, so I'll be putting this on my to-be-read list when I feel like reading a tear jerker. Thanks for your wonderful review, you've convinced me to read it!

Sometimes I just want to cry for no particular reason. Or just enjoy reading a story that'll make me cry cause I'll cry more and pay back for all these years that I didn't cry when I was hurting.

It sounds like a heartbreaking and beautiful story. I think I might have to grab the Kleenex before I start this one! I'm already rooting for Miriam just based on your wonderful review! Definitely adding this to my 'to read' list.

A heart-wrenching story of Miriam that loaded with emotions when she puts her life on pause after loosing her husband in an accident, and the same is nicely portrayed in the book "Pressing Flowers" by Katie Blanchard. Nice thing is that it also displays the resilience of human condition.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

The pain that spouses go through upon the loss of the significant other sometimes is too much to bear. Having lost one of my parents, I can easily relate with this seeing how my mum's life was shattered upon my dad's demise. It is easy to identify with this book and recommend it to those who are grieving. At one point, despite the loss, life must continue and responsibilities taken.
