I noticed from your review that this seems to be a very female-centric story without many male characters. I like books that portray female relationships, so that's a plus. I am wondering, though... what makes this different from other books about the death of a partner, heartbreak, mourning, etc?

Interesting story, everyone handles loss differently but I am glad that there was a glimpse of hope from the daughter. Great review.

Pressing Flowers sounds like the kind of book we all need to read at some point in our lives. Some may benefit when they need a good cry, some may need help dealing with emotions similar to Miriam’s, or some may even benefit by reading about how the family deals with Miriam’s grief and depression. I’m going to add this to my reading list. Thanks for a great review.

I think the story is shallow
Even tho she lost her husband she still had something beautiful to live for (Penelope)
The story would have been better if it was about how she battled all odds instead of how depressed she was

This emotionally-charged, character-driven story looks like a winner to me. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the beautiful endorsement you have written in this review.

Sounds like a good, solid story about dealing with grief. I'm curious to read it!

Very interesting read. First time using this site after reluctance. But was pleasantly surprised with my first book. Although just starting Pressing Flowers the introductory prologue is very vivid and descriptive with setting that the main character is placed. I don't know if I should do spoilers while posting but very tragic what happened to her husband very curious to know how it happened.

I commend Blanchard for knocking her debut novel out of the park. I feel this book might be a bit too overwhelming for me. The book sounds so well-written that I'm not sure I can handle the waterworks it's bound to elicit. Fantastic review.

Wow! Such a sad story! I can only imagine what it would be like to lose a husband. Just terrible! I'm not sure I would enjoy this book. I am super sensitive and it might make me a bit sad. Thanks for a wonderful review, though.

Do I love a book that can make me cry. I am ready for this. One thing though, I'm not a fan of the long, drawn out, extended suffering kind of tales so I don't know if I'll really like this but I'm willing to give it a try.

From the reviews that I read, this is a book I would read. A story of one woman's grief and how she overcomes her misery to be happy again and be what her daughter needs.

Great review! Miriam's story of grief is such a relatable one, everyone either has or will experience it. I can't wait to give this a read, it seems fulled with heartbreaking moments as well as moments of joy.
