[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Tango Tehran" by Ermanno Felli.]
Tango Tehran by Ermanno Felli is a fantasy novel that is written in a unique way, representing many forms of art, tango music and dance, and love. Basically, Tango is a term used to represent a form of couple dance that has a unique pattern of abrupt pauses, postures, and rhythms. The writer is in love with the expression of art. He presented many forms of art, in his book, through his characters. Just like a character of the story, Gabriel, who finds calmness by surrounding himself by his artwork. He is keen to make portrait drawings.
The story begins with the little girl, Anoush. Anoush enters in the house of her friend and arranges some music party with her friends where a mob of police surged, but she managed to escape by finding an exit through the iron-barred hills. She got a scratch on her face during her escape.
There are many other important characters in the story that add colors to the story. Gabriel is an innovative character who is a police officer by profession but his over-whelming hobby is portrait drawing that has a great influence on other sections of his life along with his job. He used to draw portraits whenever he finds some free time. He loves to surround himself with his artwork, even in the workplace. For this, he gets taunted by his new Boss, Paul Di Fabio. But Gabriel's colleagues like him very much. He makes a portrait of his colleague, Sarah, and Stan. He managed to maintain a balance between his hobby and job for ten years.
The story has a lot of interesting characters, like Sarah, Carl but basically the story revolves around Gabriel, Danielle, their chemistry, and the power of Tango in their lives. The writer shows how Tango can impact the lives of people and unite them for some time during the dance in a state of mind where they refresh and improvise themselves.
Gabriel is married to Danielle. Danielle has expectations from her husband that are rarely fulfilled. She wants to spend time with her husband sharing their activities and preferences about lifestyle. But Gabriel's temperament is a little different. He feels a stranger in his house due to her wife's obsession with Television. His artwork proves great condolence in such moments. Instead of these differences in their temperament, Gabriel and his wife love each other.
The writer is fond of Tango dance and music. He has the expertise to teach it to readers in written form in an appealing manner. He mentioned in his book that If you don't love the music from your depths, you'll never dance well. Without complete concentration and diving into the music, you and your partner can't reach the level of improvisation.
The story is written in such a beautiful way that the reader gets hooked from the first page of the book. The writer is able to maintain the reader's curiosity level to a peak until the end of the story. This story has a lot of turns and twists but the love of the writer for art and tango music and dance is obvious in all parts of the story. This book has a lot to offer you. If you love creativity and admit its influence on man's spirit, then this book is right for you.
I like all parts of the book equally. There is no part that seems distracting or annoying. Anyone who loves reading books about the expression of art can enjoy it. There is mild profanity in the book. I only noticed one spelling error but that didn't distract the flow of the book. So, I say that the book is professionally edited. As I enjoyed this book very much, I am gladly giving this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is really a book that is worth reading. Although this is a book related to the subject matter Tango, the way the writer has written this book is speechless. So, everyone must give it a try. Really a lovely book it is.
