I got to know who you've been talking to that says they hate Beautiful Disaster ? Good Reads and Amazon have a lot of positive reviews regarding Beautiful Disaster. As far as i can tell most people loved it; including me of course :D . It was one of those books that i just had to read straight threw and when I was done, I got to read it all over again but from Travis point of view in Walking Disaster! It was a little NA for my usual taste but i still enjoyed it immensely and i'm pretty sure 85% of the people who read it can agree. So i'm just as curious to see what the haters have to say about why they hated this book because i'm just as surprised as you that there is a lot of them out there.

I personally loved all of the Beautiful Disaster books. I'm curious also to know why anyone would hate them. I borrowed the first one from a friend and loved it so much that I imediately got on Amazon and bout the entire series. The love story was amazing :) I wish there were more books. Also, LadyRose, what do you mean you read it from Travis's point of view?

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire is in Travis's point of view. It's the same story as Beautiful Disaster but from, well, Travis's point of view. lol

Of course not!!!! I loved beautiful disaster though i loved walking disaster more. The love story between travis and Abby was beautiful especially towards the ending.... And LadyRose Walking disaster might be the same story but even two same stories can be different and that is what i found out when i read those two books.

I can't say that I hated it but it just wasn't as good as other Young Adult/New Adult books that I have read.

I agree with romance-reader. I didn't HATE it, otherwise I wouldn't have read Walking Disaster. I think both books were very young adult. I just didn't like the drama the couple had, very childish fights. If I was in high school, I might be able to relate but I am a little older than that so I thought the arguments were very petty. I did like how the book was written so i might see about reading another book from that author some day.

I just read a ton of horribly negative reviews today on this book and was wondering about it. Then again, half of the reviews I read were people who I think may have been to sensitive to read this kind of book. Their opinions on it seemed to be those of a narrow minded child. People argue that it was too intense and Travis is this horrible stalker and abuser and then go on to back up their opinions by saying they get sucked into books and are so passionate about them and want to be able to "feel safe" when reading; not get sucked into the horrible darkness books like this contain. I'm sorry, but the majority of contemporary romance erotica books aren't exactly "safe places" to get sucked into. You either love the dangerous and battered mind of the alpha male that is dominating his female, or you are turned off by it and just avoid these books all together. I'm new to the published erotica scene and I already caught onto this. As I've said before, maybe I just have a very jaded mind, but reading about a guy punching a mirror because he is pissed is not not something I would freak out over and tell the author their character needs serious help and these kinds of things shouldn't be in books. (cue- "are you kidding me" face)

All that being said, I haven't read the book yet but have contemplated it. It's hard to decide when in the same day you hear multiple reviews about the same book, all differing completely lol But I believe these people leaving horrible reviews simply didn't understand what they were getting themselves into and shouldn't have been reading this book. I think I will check it out and see for myself.

No way! Don't hate - congratulate!
It's one of my favorite books. Sometimes it's a matter of what you were introduced to at certain times that determine what becomes your favorites (ex. Already a romance reader - this was the first "fighter" alpha male type I'd read and it made an apparent lasting impression on me. So much so, that I was unwilling to read more like it because I didn't want to taint my opinion - or cheat on my BBF, book boy friend :romance-adore: ). Over time you change your tastes - same with food. Just because I've grown to like other types of books, doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the heck out of this one!
I was head-over-heels crazy for this character and this book (also Walking Disaster is one of the best POV changes that I've read - it wasn't so redundant). Jamie McGuire is one of my favorite authors, so I wanted to add my two cents and defend her work. :twocents-02cents:

I liked your post. People can pick apart pretty much anything! You should give it a try. The main character is without a doubt a "bad boy" but it's really not very explicit (certainly not erotic). I admit the back and forth between Abby and Travis gets old, but without that, the story isn't quite the same (nor would be the length of the book). And I loved that the plot twists a bit when you find out a little more about Abby's background.

True, it was a bit young for me. Couldn't relate, but I did enjoy the dynamic between a miss priss and a bad boy.

I really enjoyed it. It might not be my favorite NA book I've ever read, but I can't relate to all the people that hated it. Travis Maddox is pretty fabulous. :)

I didn't hate it but I had such high expectations and I think they just weren't met. I have found that some books I read lately have a mediocre story but are so well written that they keep you engaged. In Beautiful Disaster I didn't love the story and the writing was so-so. I finished it because I always finish books but it took me awhile and I definitely had to interest in Walking Disaster.
