Blood Lovers by K. E. Thomas is a romance novel about vampires. It follows the main characters, Andrea and Shane. It begins when Shane encounters Andrea and kidnaps her. Why do you ask? Ostensibly because he, a vampire, has fallen in love with her, and she happens to be half-blood. A half-blood is a child born of a human and a vampire. Shane wants to be with her forever, so he hatches a scheme to turn her into a full vampire. This requires them to travel halfway across the world to meet the queen of vampires, who will then turn Andrea into a full vampire.

They encounter problems along the way when Andrea suddenly becomes desirable to every vampire they meet. They also encounter the main villain in the story, who for some reason, wants Andrea to be his queen. As they travel together, Andrea falls in love with Shane and they end up relying on each other throughout the journey.

I liked how fast-paced the book was. The author did not leave us in suspense for long and went straight into the story. This kept me engaged as I did not have time to get bored. We moved from her meeting Shane, to them going on a journey pretty quickly. This meant that no time was wasted, and we got right into the story. I think it was very clever for the author to do this, as there are many vampire books out there and it is hard to keep people’s attention.

However, there were some things I disliked. Andrea went from being kidnapped to falling in love without any explanation as to what made her love Shane. Half the time they were together he was asleep due to the limitations of being a vampire. He was also the reason she was in danger in the first place, as she was doing fine before he came along. I did not find it believable that she fell in love with him. The villain of the book repeated Shane’s actions, but she did not fall in love with him, which left me puzzled.

I also did not like how easily Andrea abandoned her dream of becoming a doctor. It was mostly talked about in the first chapter and then dropped. This was a plot point that should have been resolved at the end, maybe by giving Andrea a higher purpose. She did spend three years in school studying to become one, so I thought this should be addressed.

There were a few errors in the book, so I cannot give it a perfect rating. I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because I found it very exciting. I would highly recommend this book to people who love romance novels, specifically the vampire genre.

Love is a powerful emotion. Why do some people love certain individuals and not others? Is it fatal attraction? Is it the real thing? Look at the lives celebrities. We just don't know. I wouldn't dwell on it. Thanks for the review.

Romance novels about vampires are part of a hugely popular sub-genre and are therefore in high competition. Despite the flaws you mentioned, you still gave this book three stars, so it must be pretty good. Thanks for your review.

I'm not a fan of the vampire romance subgenre. I also prefer reading romance novels that have strong female characters (they are willing to pursue their own dreams rather than giving them up because of love, and they have reason to fall in love with someone). I might skip reading this book. Thanks for the thorough review!
