I think I used to prefer friends to lovers, but the older I get, the more I prefer enemies to lovers.
What do you guys think? Which trope do you prefer?

I think a lot of stories for young people promote the friends to lovers trope because it's a safer bet to end up with someone you've always gotten along with, but because we've seen it so many times, enemies to lovers has come to feel more exciting, on account of it being more new to us.

I usually prefer enemies to lovers, although I will say I get very moody reading, so sometimes I need friends to lover or something a little less angsty.

I agree that enemies to lovers can be overwhelming to read at times and that friends to lovers is easier to get through.

Both are really great! I like enemies to lovers more tho, but lovers to enemies will forever be my favourite trope.

Even though it's obvious from the start that they're going to wind up liking each other in the end, how never fails to amaze me.

The story is more fun if it's from "enemies to lovers". They're gonna exchange of witty and humorous conversation and sometimes their topic will get steamy. I love it when the guy teases the girl who's so innocent. It's cute.

I forgot how funny enemies to lovers can be, then friends to lovers is arguably more heartfelt.

I totally agree that sometimes the enemies to lovers trope is a little too frustrating to read all the time, so I have to balance between both types of books.
One of the best enemies to lovers trope is in the
Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi.

I didn't know the "Shatter Me" series by Tahereh Mafi was of the enemies to lovers trope. I might actually read it, thanks to you informing me of its appeal.

I prefer enemies to lovers, it’s more interesting and has so much more conflict and interesting scenes that are unique to that story.

I have always been enemies to lovers!! It just makes the story so intense, because you can go so many ways with it!! If done right it can keep
You on your toes. Are they going to bump uglies or off each other!! Who knows lol

It's true that friends to lovers only has conflict depending on how one person reacts to the other's feelings for them (unless you count internal conflict, which the latter usually faces throughout the duration of the story).

It's true that anything goes! Even though I go into the book knowing that the enemies are ultimately going to wind up together, it never fails to amaze me just how they go from hating each other to falling in love.
