I give The P-Town Queen by Ute Carbone a rating of 3 out of 4. I think that this was a cute almost fairytale like story. I would recommend to anyone wanting an easy read with some romance in it. I did enjoy reading this book myself and went through it pretty quickly, which tends to happen when I enjoy a book. That is why I gave this book a 3.

One of my favorite parts about this book is that it had some humor in it. This wasn’t a sappy romance story. It definitely had a love story and the reader can see it develop throughout. I thought that adding in humor to the story was such a good idea. It makes it slightly more realistic and I think more modern. Not like the old fairytales that we all have grown up on that are so serious.

Another part of the story that I liked is the family. Throughout the story the reader gets to know the family of the main character. I enjoyed how there was dysfunction and love there. I think it truly can be considered how a family might interact with each other in the world today. It makes it easy to get involved in the characters everyday lives and see the struggles that they are having. I think we all have some people in our family that are just like these characters in this story.

Some of my dislikes about this book was that I felt like it could have been better developed. I felt it was almost too easy of a read and very predictable. Knowing the genre before reading I believe that it is pretty obvious what will happen with the main characters in the end. However, I felt like I would have enjoyed some more layers to the story. The story did have a couple twists in it that were fantastic. I wish that there had been more twists and turns though to give it some more suspense. I think that would have gotten me to give it the 4 out of 4 rating instead.

Overall I thought this was a good book. I would definitely recommend it to somebody to read. Especially for those that do not have a lot of time to sit down and read because of how easy it was to follow and it is relatively short. I did like the romance and the characteristics and personalities of the main characters. It made me want some good things to happen for them. These characters definitely made it fun to read this book.
