Anne Sheldon is a beautiful high spirited young lady and Charles Carroll is a charming handsome young man . As their eyes meet on that fateful evening in March 1787 in London in the Upper Assembly Rooms in Bath they cannot begin to imagine the chain of events which would swiftly happen. A fast paced steamy and dramatic Georgian love affair.
Immoral Society is a series which follows the turbulent life of Anne Sheldon, her family and friends from the assembly rooms in Bath to the fine drawing rooms and country estates of the early 1800's. As, specified by the Author asking anyone who reads book#2 to also read Book#1 just to be able to understand the characters and have a better feel for the storyline I took her advice and I'm very glad I did.
If, Anne Sheldon's life could get any worse it probably would have she is asked by her sister Josephine to be her bridesmaid for her wedding to Anne's ex-lover Charles. Even though she is happy for her sister she still has feelings for Charles and is very hurt by their union even though try's to discourage Josephine from marrying Charles she will not listen and thinks that he loves her.
During her stay in bath Anne has a fight with a friend named Sarah Duncan during which a gentleman named Henry worthing stood up for Anne making her upset that she had to be defended by a gentleman she has started to have feelings for Anne decides it would be best Vowing to not speak to him again.
With her sister soon to be wed and her brother announcing his marriage to Helen, she feels like she will most Likely end up being a old lonely spinster. She decides to ease her heartache over Charles by leaving to spend time with her good friend Charlotte Richardson. It is during Anne's brothers wedding that she finds it in her heart to forgive Henry and let him know her feelings towards him.
With Henry now hearing Anne's feelings for him, Henry decides he can live with out her and asks her to marry him. After being happily married for 2 years Anne realizes there is more going on behind her back that she never knew about her friends lives secrets drugs and lies await. Anne finds out after Henry returns from one of his business trips that he has strayed. Not knowing if there marriage will ever recover they try to live their life together.
Their friends that they hang with, all know secrets that could destroy Anne's marriage and possibly kill Charles or Henry being best friends with each other and both loving Anne. Charles will gladly take Anne and marry her if they all wouldn't have looked down on divorce back then. This book really does transport you back in time to that time period in the 1800s. With the speech of characters and the descriptions of their lives back then I believe the author has captured a very great Georgian Historical Romance. I feel this series is truly a one of a kind story that I enjoyed reading and can't wait to read the next book in this series. I rate this story 3 out of 4.
