I was actually disappointed with these books. From all the hype and the bashing I was expecting some horrific stuff, but nothing was really that bad. There are a lot of things going on present day that would be defined and a thousand times kinkier. Maybe it is just me being open minded about the whole concept or maybe it is the fact that the majority of people complaining are conservative Christians. Either way, I see no harm in the book and it definitely could have been taken a lot farther than it was. It was very entertaining, but definitely not as erotic as I was led to believe.
