I read, “I’m With the Band” by Neena O’Neal, and I loved this book! Mackenzie “Mack” Addams is a twenty-something aspiring tattoo artist going through a transitional time in her life. She is taking a break from school, much to the dismay of her estranged mother, and she is recently unemployed after quitting her seemingly dead-end job answering the phone at a local tattoo shop. When she gets a call from her best friend Ian, asking her to fill in last-minute as band manager for his band’s first big tour, she welcomes the opportunity to get away. As if keeping the guys in the band in line is not enough responsibility, Mack also needs to manage her relationship with Ian, which has recently turned hot and heavy.

This book is a sexy and fun rollercoaster. I am giving this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because I simply could not put it down. I read this nearly 500-page* romance novel in just two days! The story flowed nicely, and I found Mack to be a very relatable character. I highly recommend this book to all twenty-something women out there because everyone goes through their own transitional time when they are just trying to figure out life, and I think this book did a great job at capturing that experience. That being said, this book contains some strong language, and very adult themes, so if you are not a fan of that kind of reading material, you may want to steer clear.

The thing that I enjoyed most about this book was Ian’s character. I cannot go into specific details without giving anything away, but his character is so genuine that you cannot help rooting for him. His love for Mack is so unwavering, and I found that to be refreshing for a young male character.

I am at a loss to come up with a least favorite part of this book because even though there were parts that made me want to shake Mack and steer her in the right direction, I really enjoyed the story overall, and would not change anything. The only thing that I feel like I should point out is that there were a handful of occasions where the wrong word was used, for example, use of the word “and” instead of “an”, and once “office” instead of “off”. The mistakes were always easily corrected within the context of the story, so I did not tend to find them too distracting.

In conclusion, “I’m With the Band” by Neena O’Neal is definitely worth reading! Mack’s story will draw you right in, and if you are anything like me, you will not be able to put it down. I am so glad that I chose this book to review, and I look forward to reading Neena O’Neal’s next book.

I enjoyed reading your review. You read the 500-page book in 2 days! I've had that happen before, where you just can't put the book down. :)

I like 500 page page-turners. The characters have a lot of time to develop and usually they all contribute to the story in their own way. I'm not "into" romance novels that much, but I did read a few good ones in the genre. This one sounds fun, the main character being a tattoo artist and all.

I don't want to pop any balloons, but the author tells me the book is 302 pages. Perhaps, the 302 pages were stretched into 500 virtual pages by the ereader. 302 pages is still a lot to blow through in just two days. :)
