I couldn’t figure out how this book was going to evolve in the beginning. However once I got a better understanding of the characters a few chapters in, everything started to fall into place.
Elle and Oliver have a sorted past but could never seem to work things out. Oliver is the best friend of Elle’s brother and was worried about crossing that line, afraid it may jeopardize his life long friendship with the family. Elle knows that Oliver is the one for her and yet she is scared of making things more complicated for both of them. Finally they give into their attraction one night and admit their feelings. Yet Oliver leaves for college and doesn’t contact Elle again. She is heartbroken but eventually moves on.
Fast forward several years and Elle is engaged and seemingly happy until a tragic accident claims the life of her fiancé. While mourning his death and trying to figure out how to get her life back together, she moves in with her brother. There she sees Oliver again.
The two seem to have an unwavering sexual tension that picks back up after years apart and carries the rest of the book. Secrets of the past are brought to light and we soon learn that Elle was never truly happy with her engagement. The characters unfold before your eyes. Is now finally the time for Elle and Oliver?
