Hey there? What do you think is an appropriate age for kids to start reading books and what should they read?

It's good to start whenever the child has the ability to speak. Start with simple short stories, mostly graphical books with pictures so that the child doesn't feel bored from the beginning. the minimum age I think is at least 6 years old. because at that level they start to grow an understanding of the things around them.

As early as they start understanding some bits of the alphabet. Reading doent only apply to reading books/novels. If they are bright, they could start at the age of 4 or 5 years by reading some comics. Pictures usually interest kids and they could progress from there as the reading culture grows

Children have that feisty spirit of curiosity, that needs to be attended to. Once they can understand, give them books. fiction and fantasy is the best genre for them.

The sooner the better! My daughter is 6 and loved to read and listen to audiobooks, I started her with The Magic Treehouse series I think adventure books are perfect for their imaginative minds. And now she’s starting to listen to the various American girl stories
