When I am looking for something that seems like a quick read and won't require a lot of my thought processes then I usually download free romance novels. I teach from Sept to June and from mid May until Mid June I also read academic exams for the International program I teach, so something easy and quick this time of year is just what I am looking for. To that end I recently downloaded a book called A Slip in Time. I expected it to be shorter than it was, but I was pleasantly surprised with the length and the content.
It was an interesting read about a young woman who visits in the Highlands of Scotland in the late 19th century. Nothing out of the ordinary about that, until she is housed in the oldest room of the castle and discovers that she can slip through time to the 15th century, same castle. There she meets the laird of Dunraven and at first it is all too much for them both. Slowly they fall in love and you see the true respect this highlander has for women. They also have to deal with the issues that come with slipping in and out of time. It causes some problems for Julia in her own time, but she also makes some unexpected friends who help her discover why she is the only one who can slip through time and what that means for her future.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good historical romance, with a little sci-fi thrown in. It was an unexpected twist and I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
