Until Hell Freezes over is written and published by K. S. Morgan. It was published in February 2015. This is a Romance novel. This book is not suitable for young readers due to sexual content.
Cold and indifferent, Aidan Morettdrain diligently tries to ignore his inner demons by spending his time searching for the impossible, a way into Hell. He is used to his best friend, Benjamin, kidnapping beautiful women from nearby villages to appease Aidan's desires and then disposes of them. For many years, Aidan has been emotionally unavailable and bitter, but the day Hazel stumbled into his house, Aidan hasn’t been the same. Getting kidnapped from her home, Hazel doesn’t know how to act or what to expect. Certainly, she never thought it would be possible to fall in love with the man who she got kidnapped for. In order to keep Hazel alive, Aidan must pay the biggest price of his life.
Until Hell Freezes Over could only be described as a good read. Because it has many positive aspects, I highly enjoyed reading this novel. Since I'm a big sucker for romance novels, getting surprised during or in the middle of these books isn’t a recurrent thing. Even though most of the times the beginnings and the endings are predictable, I still wait for the fight or the plot scenes to show up and finally move me. Fortunately for me, this romance novel has an unconventional plot. The storyline has a streak of fantasy in it, and this added a sense of suspense to my reading experience. I thought the story was creative and exciting.
Undoubtedly, Morgan has great writing skills. Right from the start, the writing smoothly got me engrossed in the story, and everything was comprehensible. Furthermore, the writing perfectly demonstrated good character development. Due to his trip to Hell, Aidan's character has drastically matured in the end. I liked how the author smartly modified Aidan's character; I didn’t expect the way it was applied.
However, this book is not without faults. I have few objections to this novel. Firstly, there are many typos that were distracting. Secondly, since this is a romance novel, I partly expected better build up of the loving relationship; I believe they fell in love too fast. Thirdly, Opening up a closed and a hard surfaced character (like Aidan for instance) requires great writing skills, but also it requires good timing and good application. In this novel, Aidan, who is supposed to be cold, arrogant, closed off, and inconsiderate, opens up to Hazel way too soon, and truthfully, this disappointed me. The fourth and the last flaw in this novel is the author's lack of sufficient information or background about Benjamin, Aidan's best friend. Since he took a huge role in Aidan's life and a bigger role in the end, why was there not enough information about his past?
Nevertheless, I cannot deny that with the existence of these flaws or problems, I still enjoyed reading this novel immensely. All in all, I think this book would appeal to readers who are seeking a simple and a fresh romance novel. I give this book 3 out of 4 stars.
