Erotic works of Anne Rice, the Beauty series

Using several pseudonyms Anne Rice moved away from her usual genre and wrote several works of extremely explicit erotic material. Did her fans out there enjoy them? Did non-fans enjoy them more? I suspect the latter, I imagine her devotees were horrified?

I've always enjoyed Anne Rice's writing. I wouldn't call myself a devotee but I have read many of her books. I was in my early twenties when I read the series. It was the first time I had read erotica novels. I'm not sure what I was expecting from the Beauty Series, but I was quite surprise!! Though they were unexpected I definitely enjoyed them. Anne Rice has a talent for creating deep intriguing characters. Even if you take the explicit sex out she has an incredible storyline line that it made it hard to put the books down. I own the whole series and have read them several times.

I loved this series! These were the first erotica books that I actually bought in a store (I was around 20 at the time) and I thought I was SO risqué buying erotic books at the bookstore. They have a favorite spot on my bookshelf. Gotta love Anna Rice whether it's Vampires or BDSM she writes good stories.

I completed the entire series, talk about jaw dropping. I had to Google a few of the positions.

I was in my 20s when I read these books as well. They were very eye-opening. To say the least, I think they were very informative as to the kid of people I might meeting in the adult world. I loved that they taught my younger self to open my mind to have new thoughts to see new things to have a few adventures. Anne Rice is a very diverse writer she can handle just about any subject matter. To go from erotica on one end of the spectrum and then Christian literature; talk about being of two minds. I can remember a time when I was embarrassed of my erotic novels. I would like to think perhaps she helped me to grow up and not have sexual hangups.

Erotica isn't really my cup of tea, but I love Anne Rice and skirted around these books for years. My girlfriends and I would dare each other to look for them in the library and not one of us chickens ever had the courage to check them out! Now erotica is more mainstream and I find myself contemplating reading them. Maybe one day, but at 31 years old, I'm still not mature enough to handle erotic novels lol!

I was definitely surprised. I had read the Vampires series before ever being informed of the Beauty trilogy. My ex-husband got the series for me as a Christmas gift one year, and I was a little hesitant to start reading the books. After I got into it, I was pretty happy with the story and absolutely shocked by the vulgarity of some scenes. The novels excited my adventurous side; I felt like I was really digging into something that the mainstream would be horrified by (until 50 Shades became popular), and that tends to be a weak spot for me... Anyway, I really liked Anne Rice's style, although I found that it took me a while to get through the books, even though they are rather short, because of the amount of vulgarity. I had to take a break in between her novels because it is hard to take in some of the scenes when you are really not used to the kind of sexual adventures some of the princes and princesses had to go through. It has been a few years since I read the books, but some of the scenes still reverberate in my mind as if I had finished reading the books yesterday.

I loved this trilogy. I had read a lot of Anne Rice's work before I found these. I loved that it was based on a fairy tale, and had a much happier ending than the original. I think I was in middle school, maybe a freshman when I read the first two, and it took me until 2 years ago to find the third one. It was my white whale in a way. The series really makes you think about personalities at their core. I think the tone even matched her other work. Finding your truth despite everything going on around you. The erotica was stimulating, but there was definitely a deeper stream of thought going through it. I haven't read 50 Shades yet, but from what I've heard, Anne's is much better writing.

The first chapters got me speechless.. At some point, I honestly thought the plots are too absurd and unreal. Anyway the writings are good, minus the exaggerating BDSM scenes lol

I haven't read the beauty series (I assume this refers to Sleeping Beauty) but I have read the Mayfair witches series and I am not at all surprised at the idea of her writing erotica. I just put the first book on hold from my library so I can't wait to see if its shocking or just Anne Rice ?
