Royal Date follows Katerina (Kat) MacTaggart, a 24 year old graduate student, as she experiences her first bout of intense emotions for a Monterran prince named Nico. She’s on holiday before her final semester where an unexpected accident brings Nico and Kat together in a way she never thought possible. She has a troubled past and has a difficult time deciphering her never experienced feelings.
This book was like a breath of fresh air. It has a sweet innocence that one doesn’t see very often in adult romance. The main character is slightly hard headed but understood that she isn’t always right after she has cooled off and has thought things through. The chemistry between her and Nico is so electric that I fell in love with them more and more whenever they were together. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Nico is a hottie.
The intensity between these two make you not want to set the book down.
Something else I loved was the side characters. They are developed well and are absolutely relatable. The humor and sense of truth they bring to the table is something that only endears one more to the story.
This book made me cry and made me laugh. When an author is able to bring that kind of emotion forward, I applaud them. I recommend this book to people that love sweet fairy tale like romances. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars.
