Nina is a recently divorced, forty-year old woman who is trying to piece her life back together after following her husband around for fifteen years. She is tired of living her life for someone else and wants to start over. So she finds her own job, moves into an apartment and decides to adopt a dog from the pound. After passing over the perky puppies that she had originally come in to adopt, Nina decides to adopt Fred, an older sad looking beagle basset hound hours before he would be put down. Little does she know that by saving Fred, Fred will repay back the favor by introducing her to the sexy, younger, male doctor who lives a floor below her.
If you are looking for a romantic quick read, this is the book for you. The book has comic relief with Fred frequently saving the day from disastrous dates and constantly wanting to devour oreos, pretzels and chips. Not only did this book give me a romantic story about two individuals growing up and deciding what truly matters in their life, but it also made me want to adopt an older dog from the pound. It was a very enjoyable, quick read that I would suggest to anyone.
