[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Torn Hearts" by M.E. Gordon.]

Torn Hearts by M.E Gordon is a romantic novel about the dilemma a young girl faces as she struggles to choose between two men. It follows the entire process from the point where she first meets these men to her ultimate decision of choosing one of them.

The story follows the romantic conundrum faced by Elizabeth Monroe, a college student with body image issues, as she struggles to make a choice between two men, Simon Sullivan and Spencer Salvatore, who in many ways personify love and lust respectively. Her choice is made further complicated by her perfect state of happiness when she is with Simon and her complete inability to think rationally when she is around Spencer Salvatore. Additional plot comes from the drama which revolves around her friends and family.

The premise is extremely clichéd; describing an insecure girl who is suddenly finds herself pursued by men who, in her own words, are far too good for her. This book, like so many in the recent times, caters to that ultimate fantasy every teenage girl has of finding true love in someone who loves her for something she can’t even see in herself. The story is mostly predictable and doesn’t have too much plot.

The style of writing is visually descriptive and hence, extremely engaging. Even though there is limited plot, the humorous descriptions of the day to day activities are more than enough to keep the pace of the book up. Elizabeth’s self-depreciating wit and wry sense of humour is delightful and makes her endearing despite her insecure and inconsistent nature.

Most of the characters are well-written and include the insecure main lead, her over-protective brother, her cool brother, her hot best friend, the nice guy and the sexy guy. Despite being extremely clichéd, the characters are likable, and sometimes surprisingly insightful. The character of Spencer Salvatore bears striking similarity to that of Christian Grey. The characters also have a tendency for drama and unexpected wisdom.

The ending was a little too abrupt and even though it was fairly predictable, it was also a little disappointing. There was an obvious teaser in the epilogue and it can be easily assumed that the next part of the book will soon make an appearance.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. Despite being a little unoriginal in its premise, the author’s lively sense of humour effortlessly picks up the act and provides good entertainment. I look forward to reading the next part of the book, but only as long as it is free from the typographical errors that was occasionally seen in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic drama with a touch of comedy, and doesn’t mind a generous helping of graphic sex scenes.

Nice and very honest review. I want to read this book because of little curiousity because of elizebeth torn hearts between the two men.

I would have to agree with you about the plot being cliche. Bella of Twilight, Katniss of Hunger Games, Clary of Mortal Instrument, we have that in abundance. What intrigued me, though, is the characters being 'likable, and sometimes surprisingly insightful'. I think I'm going to like this book. Great job on the review. Congratulations to M.E. Gordon on such an obviously well written book.
