Nobody likes their life to be determined by the “C” word. Unfortunately, Shelby Whitman finds her life placed on hold a second time as cancer sets back in to her life. Shelby has always had her eye on Parker Christiansen but has never pursued him, claiming to herself that he needs more than a woman with a body broken from cancer. She is an established sub in the BDSM club she frequents and is always turning Master Parker down when he offers to negotiate scenes with her. But once the cancer sets in, she finds herself wanting to submit to the Dom in other ways.

Parker is a successful business man, owning his own construction company, as well as holding the title of an established Dominant. Parker is frustrated by Shelby constantly turning him away, so he decides to take matters into his own hands. When he finds out about her condition, he makes her an offer she cannot refuse, or rather, an offer that is “not negotiable”.

Not Negotiable, by Samantha Cole is a short Novella within the Trident Security series. This book holds hints of the BDSM world but contains a story of how people feel inadequate about themselves, but they still manage to find each other to cling on too.

The story may be short and sweet, but it holds everything I need in a story: A sassy female lead, an alpha leading male, a great supporting cast, and the cutest darn furry characters around. The back story of each character is well told and gives you decent incite as to whom the characters are today. The author even went into detail about how Parker’s dog had a rough upbringing, and was now living the good life with his Master.

I couldn’t pick anything out in this book that I did not like except that it was too short! This book measures up to the rest of the series very well, even though it was about half the size. There was plenty of detail to give you exactly what you needed from the story from beginning to end.

I do recommend reading the rest of the series, but you could read this as a standalone if you wished. The book gives you a little bit of the BDSM erotica side but also offers up some romance and a little bit of heartache to go along with the love. I wasn’t able to put the book down once I started so I have to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

Sounds like an interesting novella. I have already read a few BDSM books and the cancer angle makes this story more intriguing. I hope I get a chance to read it. Good job on the review. Congratulations to Samantha Cole on such an obviously well written book.

Thank you Kimmyschemy06! I had been searching for the right story to give to Shelby as she had become a secondary character my readers loved and they wanted her story. My younger cousin was losing her 4 year battle to cancer when I wrote this so it was very therapeutic for me. I hope you enjoy it.

Nice review! Sounds like a good book for fans of the genre. I liked it that the book "contains a story of how people feel inadequate about themselves, but they still manage to find each other to cling on too".

I'm not much on BDSM erotica, but thanks for the insightful review.

Nice, thorough review! Although the BDSM subject matter is not my cup of tea, it sounds like the great character development and unique cancer plotline would make this a good choice for fans of the genre.

Congrats to the author on receiving a glowing review!
