Fons Vitae
By Destiny Aitsuji

There are several characters who play a major role in this story by Destiny Aitsuji. Ivan Bridges butler to Estella Robins. Castella Bryans, Nina Elmore, Robert and Tristan Hunting, and Ruff Willows. After their cars break down, they find themselves all staying for an extended time at the home of Castella Bryans. The title Fons Vitae is what we find as we read the story the Spring of Life. Which only blooms once every ten years. Because of the plant's ability to grant people the power of longevity or immortality or even eternal youth. When Castella’s cat Beryl goes missing the group goes to find him. They discover a magical garden at the neighbors castle next door. They discover a room underground, which was quite malodorous. One of my favorite sentences from the book. “All nobility is part of the corruption ring.”
Another line that I liked. “A pair of green eyes followed them from the shadows before vanishing into the darkness. They might have stumbled across something better left undiscovered.” They come to discover more about the Fons Vitae and the secrets of the castle next door. My very favorite part of the book was Christmas at Mr. and Mrs. Ned Willows with the characters of Ruff and Castella. One of my favorite lines, “Son of a pistachio nut! What kind of devil are you?” And another, “Happiness is something that can be taken away really easily, even though it takes a lot of work to attain it.”
I rated this book a solid 5 stars. I enjoyed reading it. The characters are great and the story is interesting. Well written. I would enjoy reading more by this author. Note to the author: “May the wind of adventure rise to meet you on your path to creativity.” Vermont Reviewa
