I came across this book accidentally while searching for a completely different audiobook on youtube. This was not the first audiobook that I have listen to but it was one of the best. Not only is the story engaging but the voice charters do a great job of bring the book to life. I especially enjoyed the parts narrated by the male voice actor, there was something about his voice that made me absolutely fall in love with Styx. This book is kinda dark and it's kinda messed up and it had me reflecting on how differently my life could have been had my childhood circumstances been different. Mae the main female character was raised in a religious cult and suffered many years of abuse. Styx was raised to do one thing and was to become the president of the MC club that his grandfather and he also suffers from a debilitating stutter (which I find to be the most endearing thing about him) One the day that 8yr old Mae has the worst experience of her life she runs through the forest until she comes to the fence that keeps her in, on the other side of the fence is 11yr old Styx who came upon the fence accidentally. In a moment of panic he manages to be able to speak to Mae and after having to leave her, he never stops looking for her. After 15yrs of being apart they find each other again. There are twists and turns in the plot, some pretty awful things are reveled about Mae's past and Styx's fights to keep his one true love forever.
I not sure if the author meant for this book to be endearing or for the reader to have positive feeling attached to the story but I do, I feel in love while reading this book and was disappointed when I got to the end and I had to leave Mae and Styx.

I completely agree. The audio for it ain't me babe was perfectly matched. I can't do audio for some books if the voice doesn't match what I imagine or the use one voice for dual POV. It was an amazing book. Not your typical romance. It sucked me into the whole series and the author herself. Read the scarred souls series right after and it rocked too
