Out of all the books in this series I’ve enjoyed this one the most! It features Evan, a billionaire, who is stiff, unemotional and guarded, and Randy, a schoolteacher, his polar opposite. The relationship starts off when she writes an email to his corporation asking for a donation for the community rec center. He responds (anonymously) with a rude reply that the request had already been filled. What develops between the two is an unlikely pen-pal relationship.
Evan is a man haunted by his past. Abused emotionally and physically as a child by his father, his life has become centered on achieving financial success and security and protecting his siblings. He does not have time for fun. Randy, a breath of fresh air, makes him want things he never dared to want before. Should he take a chance and risk his heart? Much like everything else he wants in his life, he decides to go after Randy. She chips away at his tough exterior one layer at a time until she reveals the heart of the man beneath. The physical chemistry between them is undeniable, but so is the emotional connection between them that grows stronger as each day passes.
This book is a treasure trove of wonderful subplots… Evans dyslexia and child abuse and child fostering to name a few. I thoroughly loved this book, and couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it to others who love hot, love filled romance novels!
