Anchor Of Hope is the first book in 'Sweet Home' series by Kiah Stephens.

It is a New Adult romance, following 27-year-old Ashley Harper. She's got it all figured out - a good job, a perfect boyfriend, a beautiful apartment in a big city; a very satisfactory life according to her. But yet something is missing. On the occasion of her mother's wedding, she flees to her hometown 'Sweet Home' after avoiding it for eight years. Her old town brings back tough memories she didn't wish to face. She thought she could manage a week and return to her normal life to her boyfriend who was ready to move in with her.

She meets her childhood sweetheart, Jay. Ashley had left him with a broken heart eight years ago. Hesitant at first, they reconcile but things have changed in 'Sweet Home' and so have Jay. Ashley tries to justify the reason she left 'Sweet Home' eight years ago. She's suddenly on crossroads debating whether to return to the life she thought was perfect or stay where she belongs.

This book falls under Christian Fiction and follows Ashley's journey from disdain towards God to hope and enlightenment.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. Here's why:

In the beginning, I wasn't sure I would like this book judging from the cover and excerpt but as read it, the story picked up its flow and it was impossible to put it down. I was so drawn to Ashley and Jay's relationship and wanted to know their back story. Kiah did an outstanding job in keeping readers intrigued throughout the book by her easy flowing voice. At times, I couldn't feel Ashley's deep thoughts as the novel was in the third person which irked me a little.

The characters are very well developed. I would have enjoyed more interactions between Ashley and Jay or recall their old memories. I also wanted to know more about Ashley's relationship with her dad. But, as this book is part of a series, the author may have chosen not to disclose everything. Overall, this was an almost perfect New Adult romance story with developed characters and a strong plot.

I would have given this book a 4 out of 4 rating. But, there were spelling/grammatical errors in the book. It bugged me and took my attention away from the story. Other than that, I was very satisfied with the way it turned out. I enjoyed it very much. However, I'm not sure I would read the second book in series. I am perfectly fine with how it ended.
