Review for Branded by Keary Taylor

Post by bluestreak77 »

Branded was given to me by a friend who knew that I liked romance novels, and of course, it was added to my pile to be read (which never seems to get any smaller). It sat there, until my friend finally got me to read it (mostly from sending me text after text to read it). I read it in one sitting. It is about a girl who can only sleep in small intervals, and will stay awake for days, because when she sleeps, her nightmares are so eerily real. She is a prisoner, and put on trial before a panel. She wakes up each time time a verdict is made, but not without a horrible excruciating pain of being branded on her back.
She is a very down to earth kind of girl, but her friends and family do not understand what is happening. She tries to live her life as normal as possible. The fact that she has no magic power, makes her so very appealing at a character because she could be any one of us with dreams that haunt us, but she lives her life despite the horrors she experiences. If you are religious, the book may offend you, so I would refrain from reading it if things that go against how angels and devils are.
When reading the book, you are always trying to figure out what will happen next before it happens, or what it all means. Some of it is predictable, but it is still worth the read. You do end up finding out what the trials are, and why she has these dreams, so it won't be too much of cliff hanger at the end.
This book is part of a series (The Fallen Angels), so there is more to come. I have not read the other books, not because I don't want to, but because sometimes the first book is so good that you are afraid the next book will not be as good.
