In Music in His Bones: Book One Billionaire Romance, Amerine Graham introduces readers to the Wilson family, owners and operators of Wilson Records, a top company in the recording industry. In the opening scene, brothers, Kay, Nathan, and Chris Wilson are put to a challenge of finding the next big act in the music industry by their father and CEO, Wilhelm Wilson. With challenge in hand, the brothers go their separate ways.

Kay Wilson, eldest son and emotionally damaged ex-rocker turned music executive, goes on the hunt. Visiting a local club, Kay becomes ensnared by the siren song of Nell, a punk rocker with emotional baggage, attitude and a voice that could melt butter. A sexy encounter backstage starts Kay and Nell down a path of self-discovery and to each other. As Kay woos Nell, he cannot deny the growing attraction between them. Will Nell become his client or his lover? Misunderstandings, disappointment, redemption, and second chances all ensue.

I enjoyed reading this story. Kay is a strong and interesting character whose past is slowly revealed as the story progresses. The obstacles and personal tragedies that are revealed compel the reader to pull for Kay. Nell’s character is also fraught with weaknesses from a difficult childhood, and I found myself wanting to see Nell rise above her insecurities. On stage, she is strong and confident, but this stage persona conceals the true person that lies beneath. One of the things I liked best about the story is that, from his first glimpse of Nell and the first haunting notes he hears, Kay can sense there is more to Nell than meets the eye, or ear, as it were.

I disliked the fact that the story was extremely short. I was expecting a full-length book but, instead, Music in His Bones: Book One Billionaire Romance, is a short story. The story is part of a series, though, so reading the exploits of the Wilson brothers would be a pleasure. There were a few editing errors, but overall the story was well written and the characters were interesting. The language is descriptive and the setting of a rock club was appropriate for the storyline. The emotional hook that Graham uses provides a glimpse into the humanity of the characters and this triggers empathy for their conflict and eventual resolution.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. With the depth of character that Graham provided the reader for both Kay and Nell, I wanted to know so much more of their story. Since the story is part of a series, I suspect that Kay and Nell will again grace the pages of future installments. Overall, if you are looking for a short romance mingled with a little bit of rock and roll, then this story is for you.

Short stories can be great for the down times during the week but not if the story leaves you feeling incomplete. Maybe the next story will provide more character development and history.

I agree that they can be great. My feeling of disappointment was an initial reaction when I saw the book was only 32 pages. Once I got into the story I was pleased, but I do look forward to more in the future installments of the series.

I find it really interesting that for such a short book, you found so much to praise it on. Sounds like you were disappointed it was so short because of how much you enjoyed it rather than because of any inadequacy. Your review definitely made me curious about this short story series.

I enjoyed the story. Great characters and I am a rock and roller myself at heart. I love to play my guitar and sing!

This sounds much better than the average billionaire romance, and probably ideal for a quick read while travelling.

Thank you for the feedback. I investigated and this series is available as a box set with the three stories together. I am interested in reading the other Wilson brothers' stories.

Are the future installments supposed to be longer or is it a series of short stories? Sometimes novellas within a series can showcase a character or two, adding depth to the series. Other times, I'm left wondering why their part wasn't included in one of the other books.

I looked up the series on Amazon and for the three book set it stated that the length was 130 pages. Each book focuses on one of the Wilson brothers.
