Wrong Turn, Right Guy is a romance novel by Haylie B. Fox. It is her debut novel. Teresa M. Valli is the main character of the story.

Teresa works as an attorney for one of the best law firms in San Diego, USA. She is a very charming, well-educated and hardworking person. She gets fired from the firm by her boss because she wants a leave from her work for a few days, to attend her best friend’s wedding in Italy. Her life flips around when she gets fired because her career was everything for her. But, she does not lose hope. Teresa loves her best friend, Anna, a lot and decides to attend her wedding. She and her mother go to Italy and enjoy the vacation. After staying some days in Rome and Florence, they take their car from the airport to go to Pescara, which is the venue for Anna’s wedding. Soon, after driving for some time, Teresa realizes that they were going in a direction which was opposite to the direction of Pescara. After checking the map, she decides to take a new route. Their issues turn out to be awful when their car breaks down in the middle of the countryside. After walking for about forty minutes towards Siena, they find a farmhouse. There, they meet Luca, who tells them that his friend Alex would take them to Pescara in his car.

Teresa gets attracted towards Alex’s charming looks and polite gestures. Likewise, Alex starts to fall for Teresa. Teresa’s mother also encourages their friendship. Anna invites Alex to her wedding because he safely brought Teresa and her mother to Pescara. Teresa and Alex get to spend some quality time together during the wedding. Teresa decides to extend her trip in Italy to spend some more time with Alex. While living in the farmhouse, she becomes best friends with Luca, who encourages her and helps her always. Soon, Teresa comes to know that Alex has cheated on her and her heart breaks.

Luca consoles Teresa and expresses his feelings of love for her. Teresa also falls for Luca. They start a new life, but, Teresa’s insecurities about her career and job creep in and their relationship starts to deteriorate. Would Teresa be able to overcome her uncertainties? Would she realize the importance of a balance between personal and professional life?

Wrong Turn, Right Guy is written in the first person. This book is written in Teresa’s point of view. Her feelings and situations are nicely explained in the story. All the characters of this story are very strong. I like Luca’s character the most. He is an extremely supportive and generous individual and a loyal friend. Despite his feelings for Teresa, he never tries to break her relationship with Alex. His true love for Teresa melts my heart. He understands her and always supports her. He sacrifices a lot to protect his relationship with Teresa.

I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The author wonderfully depicts the beauty of Italy in this book. The description seems so real that the reader feels that he/she is present in the location. The vivid sunflower fields and vineyards, beautiful monuments and cafes of Rome and Florence, breathtaking mountains of Alps and beautiful fields of Siena hooked me towards the plot of the book. While reading this book I felt various emotions, such as, love, happiness, anger, and hatred. The title of the Wrong Turn, Right Guy suits the story of this book very well.

Through this book, the author has successfully conveyed that a person should be grateful in every situation and should cherish everything in his life, rather than asking for more and trying to make everything perfect. Moreover, everyone is responsible for their own happiness. Also, a person should know the importance of family and should try to maintain the balance between personal and professional life.

Despite the fact that this book is well formatted, I did not like a few things in this book. According to me the book is not professionally edited as there are numerous grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. In addition to this, Teresa’s repetitive self-talk about the loss of her job and the feelings of being useless makes the story quite stagnant. Furthermore, there are not many twists and turns in the story, which makes the plot shallow and predictable. But, the book is divided into chapters and paragraphs, which facilitates the reader. Also, the language used in this book is very easy to read and understand.

I would like to conclude by saying that, “Wrong Turn, Right Guy” is a good book and the readers who like to read romance novels, would enjoy it. Also, this book would prove a good companion during a journey and on a weekend. This is the first book by Haylie B. Fox and I would like to read more from her.

Very nice review Naval! I totally agree with you and author that a person should remain grateful in every situation. Too bad the book is not properly edited.

Nice review, I really enjoyed reading it. I assume the book would make for a great beach read. Pity about the editing, sadly I've found way too many books that were lacking in this department, and that often detracts from the enjoyment of the book.

it's clear the writer of this book makes every effort to demonstrate to the reader the importance of maintaining a balance between career and love life. I would consider reading it if only to learn what mistakes the young lawyer makes with the intention of learning from her mistakes

Quite a relatable story. Interesting review. This is the kind of book I would like to settle in with for the weekend, right up my alley!
