[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Stuck with a Bad Boy Billionaire" by Rachael Theron.]
Jane retired from the military and was a bodyguard for the elite in Hollywood. At least she was until her client’s nose was broken when he was in a drunken stupor. It didn’t matter to Paulie that Jane was defending herself from Tony’s unwanted advances. Paulie, her agent, sends Jane to New York City in order to avoid Tony’s pressing charges. Upon her arrival at the airport, a man with a British accent escorts her to a car so she can meet her new boss. At the office, Tony comes running to the car in a panic and blows Derek’s disguise. Jane was not amused by the practical joke. She attempts to walk away with her luggage, but Derek rushes after her. Jane catches Derek as he passes out from running.
Derek Reyes was embarrassed when Jane insisted on following him to the bathroom when he was at brunch with his friends. After he leaves the bathroom, Jane follows Derek as he attempts to avoid her. As she exits the restaurant, Jane encounters a man who sends shivers down her spine. Luther, her ex and her deceased friend’s brother, is standing in front of her. Derek intervenes when he notices her distress. He claims Jane is his girlfriend and kisses her passionately when Luther demands proof. Luther storms away, and Jane is escorted to the car. Derek returns to his home and finds a death threat letter on his bed.
Stuck with a Bad Boy Billionaire is a romance novel by Rachael Theron. The story switches back and forth between Derek’s and Jane’s perspectives. Derek’s witty remarks and Jane’s quick comebacks make several moments funny. The supporting characters add to the intriguing plot, which is full of unexpected twists. While Jane was described as a strong woman, Theron added details that made her easy to relate to. Jane and Derek are both full of surprises.
Some parts of the story need improvement. What happened to Marlon, who was Luther’s brother, that caused Jane to feel responsible for his death? What type of business do Derek and his father run? There is something that causes Jane to carry a burden that is important to the story. By leaving questions about important topics brought up in the story, it made me feel as though the story was incomplete.
I rate Stuck with a Bad Boy Billionaire four out of five stars. A lack of information on the aforementioned topics hinders comprehension of why Jane bears guilt for Marlon’s death. The transition between character views is easy to follow. The physical attributes of the characters are depicted in vivid detail, making it easy to envision what they look like.
Mature fans of off-limits romances will find Stuck with a Bad Boy Billionaire appealing. The novel includes several explicit scenes and profanity that could be offensive to some readers.
