Review of Love trials
Jean Goulbourne's novel "Love Trials" delves into human emotions, notably the intricacies of love. The author introduced characters such as Long Dan (alias Danville Johnson), Ruby, and Auntie Mag, who play important roles alongside other characters. Each chapter of the narrative provided a unique perspective on the characters. As a result, I became completely immersed in discovering how the twisted characters would play out their roles.
Long Dan's story was straightforward and consistent, and he remained an honest man, husband, worker, and father until the end. Regarding Ruby, given her experience as a temptress, she is still unsure whether she can commit to Long Dan in the long run, even though she is getting married and having a child. The dilemma was honest; she wasn't exaggerating her personality, and her insecurities were genuine. A key factor was her efforts to correct herself after marriage; even though the past cannot be forgiven or erased, she put forth a lot of work, love, and care to construct a positive future.
Auntie Mag's character was unpredictable, and I had no idea what she was going to do next as I read. She was once an innocent sweetheart who prayed to God for Long Dan's affection. The next minute, she was cursing everyone, acting like a possessed, crazed lover determined to have love in any manner. Her behaviors ranged from innocent to evil, opposing Ruby one moment for marrying Long Dan and the next for caring for their boy as a godmother; her character was multifaceted, and I could sense a conflict between justice and evil within her. Finally, she couldn't care less about Long Dan; the way she went about achieving her goals astounded me. Her entire path was a reflection of how one person may turn out if they became obsessive and chose horrible methods to achieve their goals. She was once in a condition of unrequited love, and then she converted into a monster that chose to destroy all in the name of love.
I rate this book a 5 out of 5. The book's positive qualities are the strong tale, the bold narration, and the twists and turns—not enforcing boundaries while explaining how a love-obsessed individual will go to any length. The narration was intriguing, so until the end, I was wondering what would happen next. The predictions went until the very end, which is the beauty of a captivating plot and engaging storytelling approach. I found no flaws or reasons to dislike the book; thus, it's perfect. The editing team performed an excellent job of producing an error-free book that provided a pleasant reading experience. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about multi-layered personalities and plot twists.
