Review of Katherine's Safe Haven
This is a book review of Katherine’s Safe Haven by J. L. Stone.
Katherine Sanders is a young woman, on her own, teaching in a small town, out west. As the school year has come to an end, she decides to leave the small town for summer and vacation in the ‘big city’ of Dodge by stagecoach. Her parents, back east, would have liked to have her come home, but she would not want to go through the same battle she had when she told them she was going west to teach.
Frank, a nice fellow who has been walking her from school to her rented room, surprising her with flowers on occasion, and sometimes having a meal together at the town’s diner, is late. This was to be their last time together before she headed out of town. While she was waiting at the school, one of her students came to pick up the slate he had forgotten. He apologized for holding her up. She said he did not, because she was looking for someone else. He said, “Who were you waiting for?’ She said it was Mr. Gundfelt (Frank). Then he told her something he had just seen that hurt and disappointed her. She locked the school door, and what she did next changed her life. Read this book to find out what happens!
This story has everything you can ask from this writer: mystery, suspense, danger, and bravery. It is also a story about renewing a relationship with God, beautifully told in a way that will be appreciated by readers of any age who like stories of spiritual inspiration. This is one of those books that you want to read from beginning to end without stopping. Because of the author’s expert storytelling, readers will enjoy meeting endearing and dastardly characters. Readers will like the action, surprises, and thrilling moments all through the book. I found nothing that I disliked about the book. The editing was very good, as there were only 3 minor typos. This is the fifth book by this author. Readers will want to read more of this author’s work. Because of the reasons above, I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
