Lost Love: A Otherworld Series, by Ali Sperock, is a young adult fantasy fiction. When the protagonist of the story, Leigha turns sixteen, things start to change around her. She realized that she had some magical powers and that she could move objects with her mind. She also begins to dream of this strange man who feels like her soulmate. And then one day, when she spots the man, her entire world turns upside down. She meets new people and her older friends are. left behind. She learns that she belongs to a magical world where people seem to communicate with each other without actually talking.

I was pretty intrigued by the premise of the story. I was looking forward to some good magical scenes in the book. I was disappointed with how the author executed the magical part of the story. The characters keep talking about doing magic or practicing their magical abilities. However, the reader never properly gets to witness those action scenes. Besides moving things with their mind, there weren't any scenes that got my attention. The story revolves around Leigha going to school, work, shopping and going to fancy parties.

Another part of the book that disappointed me was the poor editing throughout the book. I frequently saw 'your' being used for 'you're'. I felt that the author couldn't care less about using correct punctuation. She would start a dialogue with starting quotes but often forgot to put the ending quotes. I found many such punctuation errors.

I don't think the book has gone through any round of editing. There were so many run-on sentences. It felt like the author had missed a period or a comma. For example, "My dream will tell me what is going on I told myself." There needs to be a period at the end of the word 'on'. I found this error on page 4 of the book. A combination of many such errors made it hard for me to enjoy the book.

Honestly speaking, I'm finding it hard to give this story a good rating. Although the premise is quite interesting, I felt that the book requires some major rewriting. I would therefore give it one out of four stars. The way it stands right now, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. However, with a bit of editing, readers who enjoy young adult fantasy fiction might like this book.

Thank you for the honest review. It made me look into the version you read and reviewed and I have submitted a different version for Kindle publication as I honestly think somehow a unedited version ended up going out. So I appreciate that.

Latest Review: Soul Seeker by Kaylin McFarren

Well, bless their heart, it seems like this book, Lost Love: A Otherworld Series, didn't quite hit the mark. The review mentioned an intriguing premise of magic and soulmates, but unfortunately, it fell short in execution. The lack of exciting magical scenes certainly disappointed the reader. And oh my, the poor editing! "Your" instead of "you're" and missing punctuation? That just ain't right. It seems like this book needs some serious editing before it can be recommended. I reckon it deserves a humble one out of five stars rating. Don't think I'll be pickin' up this one, y'all. Evocative imagery, painted vivid scenes beautifully.
