While not usually a topic I would choose to read about the review did peak my interest. I am happy to see these more relevant topics becoming more mainstream so that someone like me has the opportunity to experience more varied writings.

I don't think this is a book for me, due to the controversial topics. But I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to call it the most profound YA novel you've ever read. I've also read a couple of books that have great editing in the beginning but then you slowly find more faults as you get deeper into the book. Great review!

While My Ladybird Story by Magus Tor has an interesting plot, the transgender theme is outside my reading interest. I think the review is nicely done.

A stunning review there. Sounds a must grab book. I love the the fact that despite one feeling that useless and unworthy, there's that one true friend that makes you feel useful. Congrats on being BOTD.

Gonna add this to my shelves. I agree with others on here that something of this magnitude should be read by everyone at some point in their lives. It might help our society be more tolerant and less prejudice if they could "see through another's eyes."

As much as it seems to be expanding as a topic, there are still a good number of older folks out there who don't seem to be getting it. Some people mock Caithlyn, Jenner for her late-in-life transition but don't listen to teens when they start to have the same questions about whether or not they fit into their own bodies.
It really is a touchy topic, and it's hard to take a moderate stance on it. Most certainly for obvious reasons. All said it's still job well done.

A story of friendship, about self-discovery, and love. Transgenders and transitioning people are usually discriminated. It takes a lot of courage to stand against this. If only people can see beyond the physical appearance, life would be so much better. Thank you for your review!

Thank you for the in-depth review My LadyBird Story by Magus Tor. It sounds like this an inspirational story that would help a reader understand the challenges that a person who is transgender must face. The opening chapter of the book was intriging and pulled me right into the protagonist's point of view.

Indeed, transgenderism is a very controversial topic and not all authors manage to convey emotions and thoughts of their characters in a very natural way when dealing with this theme. It's not my cup of tea, though, but thanks for the review!

In my opinion, everyone should have to read a book like My Ladybird Story at least once in their lives, if only so that they can better understand the pain and hardships that transgender and transitioning people have to go through just to feel at home in their own bodies. It’s not as simple as putting on clothes of the opposite sex. It’s about making your inside match your outside.

If it is hard for the society to accept, it's harder on LGBTs. People are quick to judge without even walking on their shoes.

It is said that God created human in 2 genders - male and female. LGBTs may be judged by people but their number keeps on growing. Didn't the book talk about why their numbers are growing?
- Nobody's born LGBT and only a few special cases where their kinds produce offspring

I'm just curious. I have gay friends who have no offspring. They look happy, smart and talented. I can't stop feeling amused by gays during pageants but didn't bother asking for their reasons about their physical and emotional changes.

I like this book because just like you, I am passionate about this topic. Even though I am not transgender, I understand what it is like to not feel comfortable in your own skin. I agree that this is not about putting on the apparel of the other gender, but having your internal feelings match your physical body. I think that everyone should read a book like this to gain an understanding of what transgender people go through everyday.

Transgender stories aren't my thing, although this particular book sounds masterfully done. Regardless, bullying is always wrong, and everyone needs Aureus to help them through the traumatic teenage years!

I feel for all those who are in John's shoes. We all have to learn to accept all people and treat one another with respect. Easier said than done, but try we must.

I read the sample and found the episode with the secret box so very touching.

Kudos to the author for taking the courage to write a different kind of story.

Katiesquilts, "making your inside match your outside" is brilliant! We all need to do that.
