A little fight here and there, a tinge of humour and Rick Riordan brings the best young adult read to life. The Percy Jackson series had me engrossed for months. It emphasized my love for fantasy fiction. Rick had me obsessed with Greek mythology for awhile. I can't wait to read his newest release 'The Chalice of the Gods'.

I am choosing to ignore the Lightening thief adaptation because it doesn't do the book any justice. What did you think about the Percy Jackson series?

This is one of my favorite young adult series, and I hope one day my kids will think so as well! Percy is such a relatable character, and I feel in the books Rick Riordan did a great job of balancing the tragic events that unfolded with sarcasm and light hearted humor. It’s also written in a way that makes the world of Greek mythology so accessible to young readers. I agree that the movies and new show series don’t do these stories justice!

This happens to be one of my favorite young adult series as well and it is my favorite series to recommend to kids and teenagers. It has the serious topics about growing up and dealing with your life changing around you but the humor that Riordan injects into all of his kids books is absolutely amazing. The humor and the ability to laugh during all of the bad things happening is what continually draws me to the series. I was a teenager myself when the series first started coming out and as an adult I still read not only the original series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but the sequel series, The Heroes of Olympus, and I am currently working my way through The Trials of Apollo. Reading this series pushed me to study both Greek and Roman mythology and to compare the two to see how they are different or similar and why.

I absolutely adore this series. This book is a perfect blend of Greek mythology and modern lifestyle. Each Serie has a surprising turn of events and is a total jaw dropper. I have only read the till the fourth book so far and I am totally obsessed with the series. This book depicts unexpected life challenges and how Percy copes up with them. It gives a peek into the life of a young, teenage demigod. I would totally recommend this series. Once you read this book you will be raving for more. This book has a very engrossing and gripping genre and I'm sure you won't be able to put it down until you are done reading. The characters in this book are intriguing and amusing and the each chapter is full of surprise and suspense. The series is a masterpiece, trust me when I say this.

LOL percy jackson is a book I had not read when I was the right age, and now it sounds silly but I am too old for it?? I might listen to the audiobook tho, when I finish Harry potter (other series that I did not read in time I could not participate the hype...)

One of the greats, really. I did like it when movie adaptations to the books came out too, cause finally I could see and picture some of the details that I’d tried and failed to imagine in my head.

I love this series so much. I first read it shortly after The Last Olympian came out (2009 book, I read the series ~2010-2011), and I’ve reread this series multiple times since. As I get older, Percy has a few sayings that remind me how young of a character he is, but it still holds up so well I love it so much.

I tried to read the books that come after these, and I liked them but they weren’t nearly as captivating as the original Percy Jackson series. The movies disappointed me a lot but it’s alright, I have full faith either someone will do them justice one day or they’ll still be loved in book format forever.
