The Baby Heart Doctor is a book written by June Williams-Newton that tells the story of an African American man who was crucial in saving a large number of infants affected by Blue Baby Syndrome. On top of that, this book can teach many children about the importance of perseverance and hard work.

The fact that this book offers children a lot of information, such as what life was like in 1910, is something that I really appreciate. In all honesty, I wish that this story could be read by everyone. There are a lot of Africans around the world who would be interested in hearing this story, particularly those who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine, since it will demonstrate to them that they should never give up. I particularly liked how the author brought up the lesson that the novel was trying to teach at the very end of the book in order to remind the readers of what is truly important. The fact that this book was written with children in mind makes me believe that it is an excellent choice for them. 

The only thing about this book that I did not enjoy was that, despite the fact that Dr. Vivien was treated better than the majority of African Americans during that time period, he was not recognized for his participation. 

I give it a rating of five out of five stars. The illustrations were a bit more realistic in comparison to those found in other children's books, which I found to be really enjoyable. The life lesson is incredible, and it is without a doubt something I would want my child to learn. The language was straightforward, making it simple to comprehend. The fact that I found no errors further confirmed the book's flawless editing.

This book is one that I would recommend to children between the ages of eight and eighteen who are looking for a role model in general to look up to or who might need a push to perform harder.
