Review of My Sister Wants an Elephant
Passion and determination can help us achieve a lot in our lives. In the book My Sister Wants an Elephant, written by Lynne Podrat and illustrated by Sarah Gledhill, we join Randy and Jerica in their determination to achieve their dreams.
Randy and Jerica are siblings who love animals so much. Randy always wanted a llama, but Randy's mom told him he could have one if they moved to a bigger house with a backyard with woods. It then happens that his junior sister Jerica is also requesting for an elephant. As events unfold, Randy's mom meets Bruce, and they move to a house in New Jersey that meets the requirements of a backyard with woods. From reading this book, we learn if their mom fulfilled Randy's and Jerica's requests.
My Sister Wants an Elephant is a wonderful children's book. I love that it explores the themes of patience, fairness, perseverance, and many more, which would teach children a lot, such as Randy's determination to have his choice of animal and the patience he expressed as he hoped for a positive outcome. The book was fun to read, and the illustrator is commended for the beautiful images added to it, as they would help enlighten children about what animals like the llama, elephant, and Siberian Tiger look like. The book also had hilarious aspects, like when a giraffe kissed Randy's mom, and the choice of animal Randy's mom requested for herself was funny. Lastly, I loved reading about the relationship between Randy and Jerica, as it encourages love between siblings.
I had no dislike for this book, and considering the positives listed above, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I also did not encounter any errors while reading it, which proves it was exceptionally edited. I recommend this book to anyone who loves animals and children who need an inspiring read.
