This children's book certainly appears to be an unusual treasure. I admire the author's innovation! Using something as light and delightful as a pair of socks to uncover heavy topics such as grief and character, I think, is pretty ingenious. I imagine that parents would appreciate picking up this little gem for their young ones to read. Thanks for the great review!

This sounds like such an adorable premise. I really like how the author conveys the stages of grief to young kids in such a creative and fun way through the use of Emily's "lobster socks." Great review!

I love that the author used personification (with socks no less!) in a gentle way to teach children about the stages of grief. Having them see how it might affect an optimistic 'person' and a 'pessimistic' one gives each child a view into how someone closer to their own personality type would react. Kudo's to the author for handling such a heavy subject in a way children can relate to. Thank you for your wonderful (and touching) review. I'm so sorry about your little cat; as a 'cat mommy' for many years, I can relate.

A story of a pair of socks where the other pair got lost and the other grieved over it. This is such a unique and charming tale that will teach young readers about loss and grief.

This sounds like a great children's story that speaks to both grief and the dichotomy (positive and negative) that is everpresent in life. I can't wait to check this one out further.

The idea that this book facilitate conversations with children about loss and the stages of grief makes it easier for young people to handle unexpected events. This is a perfect book for children, especially those who lost people or things precious to them. Congrats on Botd.

The author did a wonderful job of showing the stages of grief to kids. By using bright colored pictures and writing the story with a light hearted and gentle tone, the author was able to successfully convey the message that grief is a normal part of life but we should never let it kill the optimism in ourselves. Congrats on BOTD!

This is adorable. Also, we struggle a lot with teaching kids about the difficult topics regarding life. I wish someone talked to me about grief when I was a kid.

Sock Lobsters narrates the story metaphorically about the important aspects of human life.
