I like how the author focused on the narration about the transition of Lea and how the sudden change force her to grow up. Many readers will be able to relate with Lea in terms of having divorced parents and dealing with the sudden change in her life. Congrats being the #botd.

A coming-of-age story where a person is forced to grow up due to unforeseen circumstances. Isn’t life cruel like that with most of us? This sounds like a riveting read, I love that the story is centered around Lea and not the divorce, thanks for highlighting that! Great review!

I love the cover and felt the ‘feel’ of the book from it. The book has a beautiful mix of history, present day, with this young lady’s personality overriding it all. It’s an intelligent book which I would be brilliant as a gift to a young adult.

From the reviews Lea's parents were planning to break up during summer and because of this Lea was forced to live with her aunt whom she didn't know well and also to get separated from her best friend Laura and it's a struggle for her to cope with the situation which is a choice her parents made.

Thanks for the interesting review. This is a perfect coming-of-age story for middle graders and will appeal to a YA audience as the content is easily relatable. The focus is not on whether Lea's parents will reunite but on her palpable loneliness when she is sent away to spend the summer with an aunt she doesn't know. Lea's brother gets to spend the holidays with their grandma while her best friend remains behind in Virginia. The story describes her transformation and complete sense of freedom as she explores the complexities of growing up. An invaluable read for a YA audience. Congrats on #BOTD.

The portrayal of Lea McKinney's summer journey in 'SandPeople: An Across Time Mystery' sounds like a heartfelt exploration of growth and adjustment amidst family separation. The emphasis on Lea's transformation over the summer, coupled with historical fiction elements, offers a compelling narrative for upper middle-grade readers. Kerr's ability to blend history seamlessly into the story while maintaining engagement is commendable and likely to captivate young readers.

I appreciate the way the reviewer described the book and Gave a image of the book. Mostly books revolve around the divorce couple and their love hunt, but I liked how the author has given the priority to the child and her adventure, focusing on the growth and trauma a child may face due to their parents actions. I would love to read this book and dive deep into the adventure.

Things are going really bad for Lea, way too bad. She is struggling to find her way around life. While this struggle however, she finds some precious people and things. The book is about that. Congratulations on BOTD, and best wishes for future projects.
