I read the brief free sample from Amazon Kindle of "SandPeople: An Across Time Mystery" by Cheryl Kerr. The anticipated adventure and mystery are well-teased out in the prologue. The introduction of Lea was well written and drew us into the difficult circumstances of her young age in dealing with her parent's separation, preparing us for the adventure ahead. I agree that this book would make for an excellent middle-grade read for anyone facing circumstances similar to Lea's.

SandPeople: An Across Time Mystery is a coming-of-age book laced with intrigue and historical detail. The book is well-written and appropriate for preteens. How do kids from families going through separation bear the hurt that comes with it?

12-year-old Lea undergoes a variety of emotions after her parents announce their divorce. Sent to her aunt’s place to spend the summer, she undergoes a transformation in her thinking and emotions. Her relationship with Aunt Meg improves and also proves to be beneficial for her. The spooky elements of ghost sightings and an added historical fiction story make this book intriguing. Your review highlighted the important points of this book.

This is a very educative book. Parent's actions affect children a lot especially when it relates with divorce or any violent acts. They go through a lot and become traumatized as well. I'm so eager to read this book and learn more.
Thank you for the great review.
Congrats on becoming BOTD!

Great review! Wow, as with yesterday’s BOTD, yet another (unique) tale of someone being affected by divorce and overall change.
The story does not focus on Lea's parents and whether they will get back together; instead, the focus is on Lea and her transformation over the summer.
Great to hear since this book’s target audience would be those around Lea’s age going through similar experiences and challenges.

Congrats to the author on BOTD! Nice to have a book with a solid female protagonist to kick off National Women’s Month!
