I feel torn about this story, since I am an avid dog lover (and have a rescue dog of my own), I know how much true pet stories can inspire and appeal to kids. I love the idea of the story with personal pictures, but if it contains grammatical errors, I can't in good conscience use it with my students who already have language delays (and I would be wanting to model correct syntax). So I really like the idea and I believe there need to be more non-fiction children's books, but I'm not totally convinced this is the best one to use. Thanks for the honest review!

All of our dogs have been rescued, either off the street or from a rescue group. They each have a very different story to tell. Bear's story of love must be special.

A sweet story with wonderful photos of Bear during different stages of his life is not my cup of tea. I won't be reading this book, but your review seems complete and competent.

Yay for rescue dogs! This looks like a lovely tribute for a beloved dog, and a fabulous children's book to boot. :)

What a wonderful book for dog lovers! I too am a sucker for dog books, and I love personal stories of people and their pups, and as a bonus, what a great advocate for animal rescue.

Thanks for the review of this book. The sample doesn't allow one to truly develop an opinion for this story so your review helped. This definitely sounds like a book for dog and animal lovers. I like that the writing style is simple for children.

Despite my love for dogs and the heartwarming story of a real life dog adopted from an animal shelter, I could never recommend a poorly edited book to children. This is not such a long book. I think the author should have paid more attention to certain details.

Sounds cute. My brother rescued a dog too...while he is far outside target age, he might want to know about this.
I think more of "our" authors need to be more careful about what these books look like, though. For real.

I thought "I" was the only one to notice when my animals acted bizarre over a change in the yard! (Swimming pool and shed addition...) LOL Sounds like a good story for people to realize their pets are "people" too and notice changes and react to them like we do too! :)

A joy that bring to the Porter Family when they adopted a Dog they named him Bear, they love him just as like as the member of the family, he's adorable pup he continue to amaze them with new discoveries, learning new things as he grow older, I think kids will surely love the story.

This book should be a great read for children.

Thank you for your review. It sounds like you gained from reading this and it caused reflections around pets and their needs. I think reading about rescue dogs should be mandatory for all!

Ooow, the book sounds to be engaging and fun. I am not a dog person, but I can feel that I would wish I could be one after reading the book. Thanks for the great review.
