Bravo to the author for writing on such a sensitive subject, for children. This book sounds like it could be very helpful to a child who is trying to understand illness, abandonment, and family bonds. :tiphat:

The book looks wonderful, and the value it provides in the content makes it a great way for children to express their feelings.
Feelings of neglect and abandonment, especially when the family cares for one child at the expense of another, are something that adults sometimes do not understand directly.
Beautifully written

The manner in which the book addresses the complex task that parents have to perform when taking care of a sick child and meeting the emotional needs of their other children is heartening. Great review, can't wait to read When Zacchy Got Sick.

Thanks for another great review, Gerry! This sounds like a valuable tool to help children deal with their feelings about a sick sibling and the extra attention they require. I just reviewed a book called “First Survivor” about a three-year-old with Neuroblastoma, and it touches upon how the child’s brother was feeling about the situation. He could have used a copy of “When Zaccy Got Sick!” I was trying to find a copy of this book several weeks ago and couldn’t find it online! Where did you find it?

Thank you, Alissa. I found "When Zacchy got Sick" on Amazon Canada. Amazon Canada in turn went through Bearablebooks.com . It is no longer available on Amazon Canada but you will probably be able to order it from Bearablebooks.com . It is an Australian company. I had to wait three weeks before getting the book. I will take a look at and reply to your review of "First Survivor". Take care. :techie-studyinggray:

This could be a story about my brother. I wish that it had been around to offer comfort and help him to understand when I was in the hospital for several weeks when we were children. Fortunately, we didn’t have as traumatic an experience as some. Thanks!

It seems that quite a lot of families share the same experience as written about in this story book. This book can help a lot of children look at these traumatic events with a proper perspective. :techie-studyinggray:

Getting sick is a child's nightmare. And it's even worse for the elders. I remember how upset I would be when my sibling got sick as a newborn. This book seems like a good read for parents and children alike! Thanks for the review! :)
