[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Kid Scientist" by Lisa Hoffman.]
Lisa Hoffman's children's fiction novel Kid Scientist transports us on an incredible journey into the unknown. Our main character, Noah, is a young boy who, because he is inquisitive, enters the portal that he finds in the hallway of his school. What's concealed behind those doors? What is going to happen to Noah? Read this incredible book to discover the limitless possibilities that await you beyond the portal.
This book explores a journey centered around dimensional and portal travel. Throughout the book, the author takes readers on an incredible fictitious journey while inspiring them to learn about science. Through a gateway, Noah enters an astonishing realm other than his own and meets other remarkable characters from the book. Alfie, a young boy he met, works for Portal Patrol and attempts to assist Noah in getting back into his home realm safely. This book includes everything you could possibly want—adventure, thrilling new planets, incredible scientific discoveries, and much more.
I had a great time reading this book, and I have no doubt that kids will too. It's a clean novel for young readers; it has no sexual or profane language—just an exciting new experience. This book has now become an absolute favorite of mine. I love reading literature involving time travel, portals, and solving mysteries. Although it wasn't what I had anticipated, I had a great time reading it. The griffin, an obnoxious animal that constantly bothered everyone around it, was a wonderful addition by the author that I truly enjoyed reading about in the novel. Reading this book did lead me to discover a few mistakes. It is in need of some editing. Other than that, though, I don't find anything bad about the book. It was an enjoyable book with lots of adventure. I particularly like how the author maintained the excitement while imparting insightful facts about science to her readers.
I give this book a five out of five star rating. I had a really pleasant time reading this book. A fun-filled book full of thrilling discoveries and adventures. I'm eager to finish the series' remaining books. For kids and adults who like fiction, I would suggest this book. They won't be let down after reading this, I promise.
