Mike and Alex are land animals known for always coming to the aid of animals whenever they need it. When Wally, a whale, is shot with a harpoon by the two-legged creatures, Father Matt Dol-Phin seeks the help of the famous land animals. Mike & Alex by Peter van Wermeskerken is a children's book with two parts, 3 and 4, that follow the exploits of Mike and Alex with their new ocean friends. Together, they help out others in need and accomplish great feats!

There are so many positive aspects to this book. The book is an amazing book for children to read. The story is interesting, with surprising plot twists that would keep young minds interested. The readers never know what animal would need the help of the kand animals and what genius plan they would make to help out the animals in need. Children would enjoy trying to find a solution alongside the animals to solve their problems. The events that happen in the book take place in different parts of the world. In their own way, readers also join Mike, Wally, and Alex on their tour around the world. The scene first opens in Normandy, France. Soon, the readers are taken to Wales, the Atlantic Ocean, New Zealand, and other cities in the world. In Part 4, the author included a map of the world and pictures to show the routes the whales were taking to clean up the ocean.

The description of Wally's inside and how conducive it is for visitors sparks the creative imagination of the readers. More so, there are colorful illustrations throughout the book. Children would definitely enjoy that bit, as they would have pictures to feed their imagination. The book was professionally edited. There were just minor grammar errors, and the heading, Table of Contents, was misspelled. It also had valuable lessons necessary for building a child's fundamental behavior and personality. The book stresses teamwork, empathy, friendship, hard work, and, most importantly, the need to care for and preserve our environment. Foreman Harald's cry for help and Wally's injury would bring awareness to the children of the dangers our environment and animals would suffer if they did not take conscious care of them.

There are no negative aspects to this book for me. I rate this book five out of five stars because it is not only educational but entertaining and interesting. I recommend this book to children between the ages of 6 and 12. It is a great read for kids.

What a lovely and explanatory review. Many children don’t live near the sea so this might stir up their imagination as to how it really feels. Nice, friendly illustrations and long paragraphs helping the more advanced young readers improve.

Mike and Alex seems like the go-to guys for any issues among the animals. If you have need to fix things, call on Mike and Alex and they are likely to save the day. However, I'm wondering whether the shooting of Wally might be their most challenging situation.
