Review of Dette's Mountain

How do kids deal with problems? How can we teach them how to deal with life’s hurdles correctly? Many cultures around the world have come to one conclusion. Stories told in childhood stay with kids for a long time. These stories help inculcate the desired values in a child. Therefore, children’s storybooks play a significant role in shaping a child’s life.
Today, we see a similar storybook. This story is about a little girl named Dette. She has a vast mountain (problem) in front of her, and she wants to move it. She tries to do everything. However, nothing seems to be changing. She then decides to do something. The book explores Dette's journey in overcoming her problem, teaching valuable lessons about perseverance and problem-solving. Does she succeed in the end? Or is she defeated? What does she do? Pick up a copy of
Dette’s Mountain by Nedra V Ware to know about it.
The story is very short, which limited the depth of character development and the exploration of the problem-solving process. However, children’s books don’t really need as much background and character development, or even a plot. However, I still would not have expected it to end where it did.
The pictures, while engaging, could be larger and brighter in color to better capture a child's attention. The book ends rather abruptly, leaving the reader wanting more. As an adult, I expected a more comprehensive ending, but this may not be a concern for the book's target audience.
As this is a children’s book, there were no profanities in the book, nor were there any sexual scenes. This book is meant for kids and they will love this book. I found no error in this book.
While this book may not have resonated with me as much as I had hoped, I believe that every reader's experience is unique. However, this review is about my experience. Therefore, I would deduct one star from my rating, giving Dette's Mountain a score of 4 out of 5 stars. I sincerely hope that your children find more joy in this book than I did.

If this little girl can move the mountain, she will be a great leader some day, or at the very least, an independent woman. Perseverance is an important value for any one to have. Problem-solving is a necessary skill. Your suggestion that the author add larger and brighter colored pictures will be welcomed by any child. Congratulations to the author for writing a children's story about perseverance and problem-solving. As you stated, these lessons stay with children for the rest of their lives.

Thanks for a great review! I love the premise of the book. It’s hard for anyone to move a mountain of a problem, especially a child, so it’s wonderful to encounter a story showing children how it can be done. I agree that pictures in a children’s book should be large and bright to capture the child’s interest. It sounds like it teaches an important lesson, and I hope it does it well, but I’m concerned about your comment about the editing. Did you find errors? That sounds like a problem for children who are just learning the language.

Hello! No I did not mention editing, this book was perfectly edited and got over in ten pages.

As a childless person, I feel I will have a similar attitude towards the book that you did. I don't read/review these books for that reason, so I'll be skipping this one too. But it does have a huge target audience and I'm sure it'll resonate with many.

It sounds like a great story for kids to learn about problem-solving and perseverance. Even though it seems like the ending is abrupt, the lessons Dette learns are likely what matters most to children. I like the focus on teaching valuable life skills through stories.

I really like the premise of the book. It's never too early to start teaching children about problem-solving and perseverance, especially as times become more challenging. From the cover, I can see that the color scheme is a bit muted. I think most people prefer children's books with vibrant colors rather than dull ones, so I'm always confused when I see dull-colored children's books. But maybe there is a reason.

Great review! It's a shame that the book is not all that you hoped it would be. I don't think that I will read this to my grandchildren as when it abruptly ends, I don't want to fend off all of the questions that they will have. Good review, though.

It sounds so sweet and engaging. I wouldn't mind reading a bit of it not just to get a glimpse to grasp its message. I liked reading your review and I hope to continue to read more of them.

The reviewer mentioned that the book is very short and I felt like this is because it is intended for young readers as longer books might become tiring for them. The lesson on how Dette moved the mountain is one that every kid needs to learn.
