Daycaretopia by Billy Coach Jr. is a children’s book that follows the journey of Billy, a three-year-old boy who has just found out that he will be attending daycare for the first time. Join Billy as he and his parents embark on a journey that shows Billy the fun times and fond memories that can be made during his time at daycare.

This book is phenomenal! Billy Coach Jr. does an astounding job at addressing what kids might be feeling during their first day at daycare, and they portray a happy experience at daycare well. The author should be commended for their ability to walk the intended audience through a day at daycare and allow the reader to experience the positives from such a new experience. It should also be noted that many of the characters drawn in the included images are from diverse backgrounds, allowing for children of all backgrounds to be able to relate to the book. This generalizability of the book provides an experience that can be applied to many children. I also appreciated how the author’s list of tips that they included at the end of the book was a list that he had actively incorporated throughout the story. This gave clear examples of how parents can incorporate his tips and tricks when talking to their child about daycare.

The addition of the coloring pages at the end was a great touch! It really helps the younger intended audience engage with the story and helps them remember the overall lesson that the book is trying to relay.

Overall, I would give this book a 4 out of 5. Points were deducted because there were just a few grammatical errors. Otherwise, there was nothing that I disliked about this book. There was no profanity or sexual content. I would recommend this book for parents who are considering putting their child in daycare and need extra support!
