[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Titus's Terrific Travel Adventure" by Dina Farmer.]
Titus's Terrific Travel Adventure is an adorable children's book written by Dina Farmer, a mother of two. The age recommendation for this book is for kids between the ages of six and twelve. I loved the author's dedication and was blown away the minute I started this book because of the illustrations. They were lovely and so well done; I found myself pausing on each page after reading to see everything there was to see in each picture.
I appreciated that the prose rhymed. While it's not always necessary, I enjoy children's books more than they do. The rhyming makes it more fun for kids on the younger end because it becomes a song they can remember and look forward to hearing. I notice that the kids in my life ask for these types of books to be read again and again. For this reason, I recommend this book as a good addition to any children's library or for story time with kids.
Farmer's story follows Titus, his brother, and his mother on their adventure to an amusement park. This involves taking a plane and all that Titus needs to bring to prepare himself because he has autism. From there, they go on rides and enjoy the adventure. I appreciated the inclusion in this story for kids with autism to see their likeness in a book, but for kids who might have friends or classmates who have autism.
This book was well written, and due to exceptional editing, I found no errors in my read-through. Titus's Terrific Travel Adventure is a quaint, fun little story to read with the children in your life. It promotes inclusion and acceptance as an undertone of this little adventure. I recommend it for any child, especially those who have autism or those who have friends, classmates, or siblings with autism. For all the reasons stated above, giving this read five out of five stars was easy.
