Review of Santa Claus - A Reindeer Legend

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Santa Claus - A Reindeer Legend" by Stanley Michelsen with Piper Michelsen.]
Santa Claus-A Reindeer Legend rates a 5 out of 5 stars. This is an adorable children’s Christmas book, unlike any other I have seen before. I have six kids, so I have read many Christmas books throughout the years, however this one was different from the others.
I loved the point of view of Santa’s child, and the drawings were adorable. The book not only told a story of life in Santa’s family, but also threw in some geography, science, and vocabulary. The style the story is written in did not make my kids feel as if they were doing schoolwork, yet, as a parent, I enjoyed knowing they were learning as they read and heard the story. I loved how the author defined each word a child may not know and explained geography in such an easy-to-read and understandable way.
Aside from the learning experience, the story of friendship was wonderful. I loved how the characters were not willing to let a friendship go just because one person, or deer, in this case, was acting naughty. Instead, they vowed to find a way to bring that deer back to his previous loving self. Some parts of the story made me laugh aloud, which at my age is not an easy task for a children's book! The descriptions of each scene in the book and the characters were wonderful and made it easy to imagine what was happening. The drawings, rather than professionally rendered digital art, were also perfect to go along with the story since it was told from a child’s point of view. The only negative aspect I found about the book was a few minor typos. These did not detract from the story at all and are very easily overlooked. Overall, this is a delightful book, and I recommend it to any child or parent, along with adults who may just want to remember some of that Christmas magic!
